Feelin'- GREAT solo, does not get enough recognition. This solo is so amazing and mindnumbing.

Not Enough- This song gets knocked on alot because it's ballad, but this solo is a very great inspired solo.

Right Now- Very inspired and capturing.

I think Feelin' is Eddie's best solo too!

I'd say the solo to 'Cabo Wabo' is under-rated, if not completely overlooked. While it certainly isn't heavy in the 'chops' department, it's one HELL of a piece of music.

Yeah. I gave my girlfriend this song and she blasts it out when the solo comes on. Might have a new VH fan.

And as I always mention, One Foot Out The Door is very underrated. The ending solo is a great way to end a song and an album.

Yeah the solo to "Feelin'" is good but I gotta give props to the solo in "Girl Gone Bad" - that shit is just ridiculous. From a guitarist's perspective, it has both elements that I believe a good solo should have - sounds great and is hard as shit to play. The intro to "Fools" off of WACF is also cool although it's not really a solo.

I'll hook up "Girl Gone Bad" with some points since no one else probably will.

I agree that One Foot Out The Door and Girl Gone Bad are definitely two of Eddie's most underrated. I'd also add ... Little Dreamer, Sinner's Swing, and The Full Bug. And ... possibly Eddie's most underrated solo EVER, IMO: You're No Good. Most VH fans don't seem to like this song, but I do. The solo is awesome.

"One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne

"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

"There is no heir to the throne of Eddie Van Halen. Nobody sits on that throne. Nobody takes that throne. Here's why it's different with Eddie: when a great guitar player passes, you just move on to another, right? But in this case, Eddie wasn't just a 'guitar player'. We're talking about a guy who changed culture and how we play guitar. He was like an alien coming in and fucking everything up so much that even the legends beforehand are like, 'Okay .. what is happening here? What sorcery is this?'" -Nuno Bettencourt

I agree with everything you said there. I also love "You're No Good" as a song as well as the solo in the song.

I can't believe I overlooked "Sinner's Swing!" earlier. That solo is great. It's really hot-for-teacherish sounding IMO - really cool fast boogie type solo. A matter of fact I think I'll go listen to that right now.

interesting points.
first, i'll give props to right now, because that solo is very well written and gels with the song very well.

this brings me to sinners swing. to me it's more of the yngvie factor: faster than snot, but doesn't really sound good. it doesn't really go with the song, but yet it's still amazing, and eddie's talent definitely shines through.

i think that spanish fly doesn't get enough recongnition. especially since it's an intrumental. everyone talks about eruption being so revolutionary and all that jive (don't get me wrong, it was), but overlook spanish fly. that song is amazingly fast, and he played it on a classical guitar to make the flamenco bastards shit their pants with envy. i think it's eddies best solo, for sure.

On the solo from Black and Blue it sounds like ed was messing with the volume knob at one point.(similar to cathedral)

Anything off of Diver Down. Although it's mostly known for it's cover tunes, DD has some true guitar gems on it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think Ed's best solo-ing time period was from 1981-84. He really blossomed melodically then...
