I was wondering if they are some of you here on vhforums that can play a Yngwie Malmsteen song ?
I have currently my Rising Force Tab Book in front of me and I just pratice the song Far Beyond since today and i'm getting good even if this song is really long and fast...
It's a hard song for a beginner like me but with some pratice I will get it for shure
EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If there’s something I can’t deal with, I can just spend hours playing. It’s a God-given gift – I certainly don’t know where the ideas come from. They’re obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

When it comes to the 'Art Of Shred':

Confucious say:
Is not enough to simply how HOW to......one must also know when NOT to.

No offense intended, but-
Why do you want to play that stuff? Nobody pays to hear it in the clubs, it's not on radio, nobody is buying it in big numbers...

Just so you can play fast? Eh....been done, bro.

Play with feel, man. That stuff is way too self-indulgent.

Want classical? Play classical....REAL classical..

Here one of the rules of guitar playing, the faster you play the more guys that will be in the audience, and less girls, you just play fast guitar stuff moderately.

I used to have that Yngwie Malmsteen cd, it's just not my thing, it's like 80's cheese music.

everyone here rips on the Fury so bad.

Sure he hasn't done anything in a long time, but I still enjoy the first three records.

Listen to the fade out on Marching Out... it isn't a bunch of masturbation. there is some quality shit in there.

I'm with you dude. It's unfair to throw Yngwie in with the rest of the 80's "shredder's" or whatever you call them. Any guitarist who has listened to the first 2 albums, and can say "Aw the guy just plays fast and has no feeling" is full of shit. Now after "Marching Out" is a different story...That stuff can get pretty cheesy and repetitive...

But "Rising Force" came out in 1984, when Yngwie was 21 years old...And that album is absolutely sick in all aspects of guitar playing. Tone, vibrato, speed, phrasing, whatever.... Nothing else compared to it. Fender Strat with low output pickups through Marshall 50w Head cranked to the max and a DOD overdrive pedal...That was the shit.... No fucking refrigerator racks with 12 harmonizers and 17 different types of delay split into 3 signals with super high output humbuckers and triple locking tremelo like most the guys who ripped off Yngwie's style in the late 80's.....

I agree with that.

Playing ultra fast solos doesn't mean playing with no feel..., most people who say that are just frustrated guitar players who don't have that level of dexterity.

Yngwie has a great feel to his playing..., he's a virtuoso.

I forgot to answer the original question!

I used to play "You don't remember..." and "Queen is in Love" in a band back in H.S. They are pretty easy songs to play, but the lyrics are kinda dumb....

I've never sat down and tried to learn his stuff note for note, it would take too much time. The only solo's I ever bothered learning note for note is all of Randy Rhoads' stuff. Most of the Eddie stuff you can pretty much figure out by ear and improvise....
