Tour opener

The arena goes black and suddenly 5 or 6 spotlights go crazy, shining everywhere. A voice comes over the p.a. saying, "Allright Knoxville,(Hey it's close to me)Welcome the bastard sons of a thousand maniacs, the Mighty Van Halen!!!!"The arena goes black for 3 seconds and the curtain around the stage drops. A lone spotlight shines on the center of the stage and the tapping opening of "Meanstreet" comes tearing thru the p.a. Suddenly, a platform comes up thru the center of the spotlight as Ed tears up the opening. About halfway, the drumriser lifts up from the back of the stage with Mike standing on it.It stops just as Ed finishes the opening and they begin the song. The crowd, me front row center, goes bananas and right when they get to the vocals,they stop.From the top of the arena, a platform lowers Dave down to the stage. "At nite I (explosion)walk(cue the band) this stinkin' street......." When he gets to the part "This is home, the only one I know" Dave gestures to the band and the place goes crazier. they blow thru the rest of the song, standing 5 min. ovation, finish the show.........

That does sound cool RR. Having said that, at this point it would sound cool to have them come out and play Spice Girls songs out of tune.

Come to think of it, they'd probably sound better out of tune.
