13. What rock star deserves a smack in the mouth and why?
Axl Rose for sure...From all the stories you hear, he sounds like the biggest dick to ever walk the planet..
Eddie Van Halen would have to be a close 2nd for fucking up the Roth reunion in 96...I don't care what Dave said or did...you don't tease your fans that way! Just swallow you ego, shut the fuck up and do it...they had the hype all built in and ready to go...even if they do it now, it won't be the same as it would've been had they done it then...
Glad someone sees it that way! "If you go out and buy a Van Halen record and put it in your collection, it will melt your other records." -David Lee Roth, 1982.

Well I love Dream Theater second only to Van Halen, and Portnoy is the man behind the kit. I can see where he's coming from... no doubt DLR got carried away, but it was a cynical PR move to not tell Sammy about the MTV thing and do it to make the big splash, even though Ed had no intention of following through with DLR because he couldn't stand to be around him... Besides smoking I'd say that was Ed's other worst career move. I'm not judging, it's just my opinion, the band still rules regardless... but it was such a letdown.
Yeah, Axl definitely takes first place. What about Gene Simmons, tho? Ugh.

WOW!!! HOLYFUCKINGFUCK!!! What kind of Twilight Zone am I living in? What kind of Viagra-Testosterone mix are these 50 year old + guys on? I never thought I'd hear another Dave and Eddie album again. If I did, I thought it would be a mid-paced affair like the Rolling Stones or later day AC/DC. After the TATTOO single I was ready for a poppy album from old guys, with a few nods to harder rock (She's A Woman and Bullethead) and I would have been happy with that.
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE GETTING A FULL-THROTTLE HARD ROCK, HEAVY METAL, BALLS TO THE WALL, FUCKING VAN HALEN THRASH METAL ALBUM!!!

yeah that's an old quote
there used to be a link to dream theater playing hot for teacher and at the end james labrie would yell something like, "dave come back, please".
JMJ"you can't change JMJ, it's legendary"- Brett Norton 9/24/07
"It's the "JMJ" everyone had grown to love, man! Time to blow the roof off this place!"
-Zachenfoot 2/23/10
"The links just look a little better with JMJ. Always has, always will." -Hurricane Halen 2/24/10
"I'm doin' the victory dance. Told ya I'd be back. Tell me ya missed me. Say it like ya mean it" - Blood and Fire. =VH= 2012. Welcome back boys
"I don't give a flying fuck about Motley Crue. I give about a half a fuck about Rush. I like Van Halen and don't give a flying fuck how many tickets they all sell. Any questions?"- jimmyw

Thats a great quote. Very honest. He tells it like many fans felt it. Which shouldnt surprise anyone cuz Mike & all of Dream Theater are enormous fans of classic VH and I have even heard them cover Mean Street live!

Ok, who's fault was it? The DT guy must know something I don't. I've seen no evidence that EVH single handedly bungled any reunion. Also, I think it's foolish to suggest that EVH should have just "swallowed his ego and shut the fuck up and do it" I don't know about you, but looking back now, I'm not the least bit surprised the thing fell through, and I don't blame Ed one bit for not wanting it to happen. Sure the fans would have eaten it up, but if the band members are one two completely different levels, I don't think they should just get out there and fake it just to please the fans and to make a ton of dough.

I have never heard of Dream Theatre or this guy. Based on that comment my opinoin of him is that he is a total schmuck. Why would Ed ever let someone into HIS band that HE doesn't want in it. IT IS HIS FRIGGEN BAND! Ed is doing what he wants to or has to now. When it is time for us to hear from him again, he'll surface. Sure I would like some good news to give me something to look forward to. That isn't the case. Shame on anyone else who goes public and says that he should have bit the bullet for his fans. Hey jerk, go move in with the person you can't stand in your life because people want you to. Let's see how happy you are. The guy has enough money to live 9 lives. He has earned every cent of it and deserves to enjoy it. Some people have no brains whatsoever.
Those that say money cannot buy hapiness don't know where to shop.

The bass player plays a bass with like 14 strings.
The guitar player played a 7 string before it was cool.
The keyboard guy is insane
The guitar player is a Van Halen fan, and he's able to mix speed and perfection and not have it sound boring.
The drummer rocks.
The singer likes to hit high notes.
Live they're incredible. One of the best bands I've seen live.Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett
