Does anyone know if the Sans Halen Tour will be producing a Live Album or Video? I think that would be just incredibly cool. Usually, they don't announce that sort of thing until the last show like "Thanks for helpin' us out, and thanks for coming to the concert to help us shoot a live video!" and that would get a response, I know Sammy did that with Live Without a Net, but yeah I'll stop rambling--does anyone know any information regarding this?

I would speculate that there would be some legal hurddles to be taken care of before anything can be released. Specifically the Van Halen material.

While Dave and Sammy may the rights to perform any of their VH stuff... I would imagine official release even of live material would require at least permission if not $$$ to the rest of VH. My insticts tell me that might not be an easy deal to cut...

I agree with Zahzoo. I'm not so sure they'd want any of their hard work to end up paying royalties to the VH brothers, who've just been sitting around for a few years (I know, and going through personal ordeals). Plus, the legal hurdles of releasing a live video containing both artists might indeed be huge.

Plus, they had enough problems deciding who goes on last on the tour, settling on alternating by concert date. What do they do for the DVD? Release two (each with a different closer)? Plus, frankly, I'd be willing to shell out money for a DVD with Dave playing live, but I wouldn't really want to pay for a solo Sammy concert.

If they were to release a live CD or DVD it would have to be a 2 disc set, that way you'd get one Dave disc and one Sammy disc... It wouldn't matter then who opened or closed the show as you'd get two separate performances...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

That works in theory, but knowing those two, they'd argue over who gets Disc 1. Doesn't Disc 1 sound like the more important one? You know, the one they usually put the feature presentation on?

Anyway, LOL, you still may be right. Maybe that would solve it.

I caught the show in St. Louis and Sam said that he would be releasing a live album and that it would be 100% St. Louis show material.

I'd rather have a DVD than an album. That show was fun.

Not St. Louis...wasn't there. But the Chicago one.

The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.

The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

The live album is supposed to be the 2001 show. The 2000 show was much better, considering in 2001 he ended early with only Marching to Mars as an encore because of a bad thunderstorm that rolled through during the show.

Yeah I also remember Sammy saying that it was the September 2001 show in St. Louis. I have to agree though that the 2000 show was much better. Actually it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

I'd love a Sammy live album, hes due to release one soon, surely. But I would'nt like a Sam/Dave live album, I could'nt listen to Dave for half an hour fucking up every lyric as he does. SAMMY can pull off another one though, its been a while since his last one.

I completely agree that the 2000 show was better...though, it was pretty cool when that storm rolled in in '01. We were barely under the canopy but we still managed to get soaked. Long drive home let me tell you.

I was on the lawn in 2001 and got absolutly drenched and your right it was a horrible drive home that night, but it was still a fun night and the lightning lighting up the sky was bad-ass. i just wish Sammy hadn't cut the concert short because of it. Oh well I guess he played for two hours anyway, just not his usual three.

Don't number the discs. Just have one titled "Dave" and the other titled "Sammy"...
