A Funny Story to Raise Your Spirits.

I have notcied that Links have become kinda upset (rightfully so) with the whole mtv thing. some are angry, offended, etc. So i thought maybe i could tell u guys a story some of u may have forgotten, and maybe others have never heard before.

During the early tours vh did, one of the groups they opened up for was Journey. Dave described Steve Perry (Journey's lead singer) as somewhat holier then thou when it came to those bands opening for Journey. One day, Dave notcied Steve wearing a scarf around his neck. Dave asked why he was wearing it. steve replied "i overworked it last night", refering to the previous show. the next day Dave ordered all the stage crew to wear scarfs around their crouches. and of course when steve asked why they wore them , Dave responded "we overworked it last night". hopefully it made u laugh or smile. when i read it in daves book, i was laughin my ass off.

it all comes down to Dave is a pretty funny m-f'er.

Cool Story. I also remember hearing a funny story about VH and Journey.

I guess on one occasion in one of the hotels where the bands were staying an after show party ensued. And in true VH fashion they set off the fire sprinkler system, completely soaking two or three floors of the hotel and blaming it on Journey.

I don't think there were any hard feelings but I have heard Dave make negative remarks towards Journey other more comercial bands of the day. All in good fun I'm sure.

BTW - It's cool to hear that some of us here on the links are fans of Journey as well. Great singer, Neal Schon is a great player as well - he joined Santana at 15 and at the same time turned down Eric Clapton for Derek and the Domino's. Steve Smith on drums used to play with Jean Luc Ponte and now has a Jazz Fusion Band called Vital Information, did a couple of albums with Tony McAlpine who is another great guitarist.

Just my two cents....
