I haven't been on in awhile, but after watching the Sam and Dave VH1 special and reading the reviews of the Sam and Dave tour, I have to honestly say, David Lee Roth is a freakin idiot. I love David Lee Roth the singer, the showman, and the musician. I love classic Van Halen, but I also love all eras of Van Halen equally. Van Halen has always been my number 1 all time favorite band, and there's not 1 damn VH song I don't enjoy. I saw the Sam and Dave tour, and I thought Sam and Dave were both absolutely INCREDIBLE, and either one could easily front Van Halen today. But, David Lee Roth the person, is a damn moron. No wonder the Van Halen boys can't get along with him. I think Dave TRIES to be a hard-to-get-along-with dipshit. He continues to take shots at Sammy, Gary, and EVH onstage. His ego is so damn big he's blinded by it. I use to think Dave was a pretty cool guy, but now I realize he's changed alot since 1984. He's needs to learn to keep his damn mouth shut, then maybe we'll get the reunion we want. Looks like his drug and alcohol abuse has fried his brain completely, because the dumbass doesn't think before he speaks. I don't see how anyone can stand to be around him. Watching and listening to his smartass comments on the Sam and Dave show absolutely pissed me off because that is exactly why Eddie doesn't want him in the band. I guarantee that Dave's voice has nothing to do with it. His voice sounds good, he's in good shape, but that will only get him so far because his attitude SUCKS! I hope he pulls his head out of his ass quick because I, like everyone else, WANTS A REUNION!!! Now, I'm not tryin' to get everyone pissing and moaning here because I know the die hard Roth fans will completely disagree, I'm just stating how I feel after some of Dave's recent actions and words. It's clear as day, Dave needs to make some serious attitude adjustments before any reunion will take place.

I saw Dave twice on the SAM/dave tour....I thought he did a pretty damn good job. Not great, but good enough. However, I really couldn't get passed his arogance, or whatever you want to call it. The way he strutted around the stage like he owned the joint, and refused to high five any of his fans in the front row who were just dying to high five him....

Anyhow, at this point. I really don't care anymore if its Dave, Sam....never thought I would say this....but OR Gary. I just want my VH back. Don't give a shit anymore if its Kip Winger!!!

Dave's ego has nothing to do w/VH not reuniting. Look, Lynyrd Skynyrd(sic) had an old band member KNIFING people in their sleep on their tour bus. Look it up in Spin Magazine, they still managed to jam. And this was a continual problem. Dave has yet to do this, so kudos to him. However, if VH reunites it has to be on Eddie's terms and we haven't heard dick from him. They all have HUGE egos, not just Dave. If it's the cancer, I hope he gets better and soon. Look folks, one of two things is going on. Eddie is more sick than we know or the Dave/VH reunion is in the cards. No one in their right mind gives a shit in their camp about Dave's ego, it's all about the money. People on this site obsess over the most minute of comments made by these guys or about their behavior. Grow up. All of VH has done more drugs, fucked more chicks and seen more shit than all of us combined. The whole "family" vibe is a lie. These cats would sell their family down the river if it meant more money for them. They all lie. They're screwed up in their personal lives, and they're stuck in a legal quagmire that dwarfs our comprehension. Stop trying to pick apart what's going on because it's so convoluted you'ld have an anuerism trying. They'll be back, with Roth, in due time.

Dave was in, not Gary, but Dave shot his mouth off and Ed gave him the boot. We all know that a reunion with Dave in '96 would have been HUGE, and there would've been plenty of money made by it. With that being said, I have to believe that it has more to do with egos than money, otherwise it would've happened 6 years ago.

Yes, it is all about the money. Lawsuits and
Ed's health/life are the hold ups. Former
management still hold them by the balls in
some aspects and they wanted to be free of
all those constraints before embarking on
the reunion. The reason the reunion with Dave
ended recently is that they realized it was
pointless to continue until the lawsuits were
resolved.

Ed's life and the Lawsuits = no reunion.
There is some progress being made in some
areas, buts it taking far too long for the
Van Halen fans. (And Dave)

Dave is getting killed in this thread and elsewhere for this quandry. He is either too much like the Dave of the past or not enough like the Dave of the past. Chances are we've all gone through some changes both physically and mentally since 1984. If you haven't, you'ld have to have been in a coma in Michael Jacksons hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Look folks, this ain't Woody Allen's movie "Sleeper". We all age and this is part of God's process of life. Celebrities that wear well generally have the help of superior genes, plastic surgery, and lead lives unfrought with taking real chances and/or danger. This ain't Dave. He's put on a lot of wear and tear over the years and not just w/drugs and alcohol. A lot of time spent in exotic locales(from the jungles of the Amazon and Borneo to the Himalayas to Morocco and the subsaharan Desert, to Tahiti and Haiti all the way back to Pasadena.) Dave has lead a life quite unlike most of the folks here who are quite willing to pass judgement while not leaving the comfort of their computer rooms. His body has absorbed quite a bit of punishment from constant touring and the physical side of performance. Even Eddie needed hip replacement surgery for Christ sake. So, if Dave isn't quite the guy you remember from 1984, try to think back on what you were at that time. Where have you gone and what have you accomplished in that time period? Although you can be proud of your own unique accomplishments in life, I doubt any of us posting here have yet to sell umpteen million units of music and are still held up to this kind of scrutiny. Remember, the guy's just getting back on his feet again.

Skynyrd is out there on the road with all of 2 original memebers. Not liking each other is exactly why there are only 2 original guys touring with a bunch of hired hands.

Now, back to Van Halen.

Dave's ego has everything to do with it. 3 times... 3 times he was (or could have been) the lead singer in the band. The man had his shot and appearantly the band is done trying to work with him.

If it really was about money, don't you think they would have made it work? Roth must be a huge pain to work with. You've got to figure it this way... Eddie, Al and Mike have walked away from millions upon millions of dollars just so they don't have to work with Roth.

Do you honestly believe that Ed, Al and Mike don't understand how much money they are passing up? Man, they know all to well. But they still don't think all that money is worth putting up with Roth.

Doesn't that say it all? I think I could put up with a lot of shit for that type of jack. Imagine how bad it would have to be for you to leave that many millions on the table.

Dave is the reason Dave is not in Van Halen. It was true in 1985; It remains true today.
