the DLRband tour and the saves the day tour are awesome!!!
but i wish Dave could play more of his solo material... man, it's Dave Lee Roth, not van halen cover featuring DLR as lead singer...
i wanted to hear the whole DLR album live, things from EEAS, ALAE... whatahell man... it's more than half of his career...
don't you feel the same way???=\//-/= LIVE: once again, i'll make it!!!

I would like to hear some solo stuff as well, but I will not complain because his show I saw in KC kicked total ass. We cannot have everything unfortunately. He could play for 4 hours and I would not get enough of it.

I think a few more Dave solo tunes would've been cool, but I certainly ain't complaining.
From all reports, Dave is kicking ass and if he plays majority of Classic Van HALEN, then so be it. They are HIS songs too.

I'd love to hear some stuff like "Tell The Truth" and "Hina" thrown up in there, but we can't get everything. Dave's gotta realize his solo career was amazing too

To me it is a sorry and sad state. Obviously DLR is pandering to the VH brothers with VH cover show to prove that he still has what it takes to rip off the old classics. But those songs are almost and in most cases more than 20 years old now. Jesus Christ.
Now I'm a big fan of his and Sammy's but at least Sammy can provide a more well rounded show and not come off as a bad parody of himself. Is it good to hear him sing the old classics, sure, but why not anything from the DLR band or his other albums? He is ashamed of them? Obviously he solo career did not hold much water and he has to rely on the VH material. That's sad.
To me unless he is on stage with VH singing those songs, he is ripping off the fans with his VH cover band. The last I saw Roth was in 93' or 94' I forget at the Metro in Chicago, it was sad, I thought he was done then. What is the point now? He might as well play Vegas with Goulet becuase that is what it has become with him.
He is trying to keep the VH candle reunion burning and doing what he can to stay active, which is fine, give the fans a well rounded show. Until that happens, he is ripping the fans off.

VH fans sure do like to bitch a lot.
Notice what I said there? Van Halen fans. We've clamored for well over a year, hoping to hear the same tunes that Dave's out there playing played. We may not be getting exactly what we want, but Dave is giving us what he can. He's simply doing what the vast majority of fans have been after him to do.
There's always going to be nay-sayers like Cabo1984, who can't just sit back and enjoy something for what it is. We can't change the fact that the rest of VH won't play nice right now.
Sure, I'd like to hear some more solo tunes to. But 99% of the people at those shows have been dying to hear some old Van Halen, and that's what Dave is giving them.

I totally agree...............you people complaining complaining complaining...this is fucking stupid!!!! Dave is kicking ass and giving the fans what they want!!!!! You call Dave being a parody of himself, which total BS...........you forget that the man, wrote every lyric and vocal melody to those songs and maybe even some of the music too...........they are his songs just as much as they are VH's......If he wants to give the fans what they want then so be it!!!!!!! I can't fucking wait to see Dave kick some major ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm...this brings to mind a related issue:
(speculation here)
Dave's setlist is showing VH that he is willing to omit pretty much everything he has done on his own for the last 17 years. VH has had some spectacular success during that time frame, and having Dave back essentially means that they, too, would have to omit those years from their live show. Kind of like "if I can forget about what I did without you guys, then you can forget about what you guys did without me".
This is just another angle from which to view his tour. Any thoughts on that?Don't bark at me...I didn't name ya.

That's an interesting idea, but he did the same thing in '99.
Sammy said in an interview (around '93 I think) that the band really didn't care what they played, as it was all the same to them. This was said in response to a 'why not play the old stuff' type of question. If that held true then, I imagine it would hold true now.
I think any tour with VH would end up being after an album, and being more similar to the tour after 5150. Lot's of new tunes, and just a smattering of old stuff. Perhaps that's why Dave is out there playing it? That's a real stretch, though.

Yes, I feel the same way.
Although it's fuckin' amazing to hear the Diamond One sing some of my favourite songs, Dave has too great of a solo catalog to simply neglect it like this. Sure, most of the fans who go to the "Save the day" shows will be there to hear classic VH songs, but I believe there will be enough of a fan representation at these shows to warrant a fair percentage of his solo offerings. Shit man, Tabbaco Road (the only solo offereing)isn't even a DLR song!
I'm not bitching, because at least Dave's out there Rockin'! But it wouldn't hurt for him to throw in some choice DRL songs!
Don't get Glen started on this subject

I'm sure Dave is kicking ass, and doing what he can to stay active which is great. I would be more inclined to see him if he got Vai, and Sheenan to tour than a guitarist for a VH cover band. I also would rather pay the $5 cover charge to see a VH cover band, than the probably $20-$40 (whatever those tickets cost) to see DLR sing behind a minor league band. You people are saying Dave is giving what the fans want. Huh, is that what you people want? I thought we wanted a full fledged reunion. Though it may finally come, there is just no market for a solo Dave now. Why else would he playing in the Dakotas and Kansas City? Try pulling this crap in New York or Chicago. If he feels the need to barely fill clubs, then fine, but I'm not standing for it until he gets back with the boys.

The entire show is revolving around Dave. The band sounds good, and plays the material extremely well. Would it sound any better if it were Steve Vai up there covering Eddie, or Bart Walsh who's been doing those songs for the better part of a decade and knows them backwards and forwards? Trust me, the band is good. I was critical of it last time Dave went out, and I was wrong then. I wasn't thrilled with the idea until seeing them this time either, but now that I have I think it's great.
Dave's playing to relatively large crowds, who are enjoying the show. Sounds like a good deal for everyone. If you won't stand for it, then don't go.
How many opportunities are we all going to have to hear this music played by at least some of the original members? Maybe not too many. There'll be a time all too soon when all you can do is pay a $5 cover to see a tribute band. Our heroes are mortal--that's the lesson from the last year.

Something has gone down - he's quit all social media since the end May, he should be able to at least say what's happened, legal or not.
