When I woke up this morning, 104.1 the Hawk, (Sacramento's classic rock station) was playing "Right Now". At times like these I listen to every little thing the DJ's say following a VH song, thirsty for an update. Now I know that the radio is not the best media for up to date info, but considering I don't currently have the internet at my house I'll settle for whatever I can get.
Anyway... right after the song was over the DJ announced that if you go to DLR's website (the bastard didn't say which one), "DLR has just announced that the reunion with Van Halen is over."
I jumped in my car, cursing at the gods, hoping that I could find someone with the internet. I wanted to read this so-called statement.
Luckily, the local communtiy college has a computer lab open on saturday mornings.
After sweet-talking the student-babe-in-charge to let me check my e-mail ("Look, I'll pay ya' for it ... what the fuck"), I went straight to the VHND, the DLRND, and then here. I have found no letter of termination, just the one from a few days ago were DLR admitted to the reunion last summer. Are all DJ's morons.

Oh man, Cabo Kid might need to explain this one for ya guys. He was a DJ for a long time and can give ya plenty of stories.

I remember about 1 year ago the DJ on my local classic rock station (101 KGB) said this it was confirmed that Van Halen had infact reunited. They played a solid hour of Van Halen to celebtate the occasion. This was during my lunch break. So I go back to work, hop on this board, and there's nothing. No solid news, just all rumors. I always had a feeling from that day on that DJ know about as much as we do. Infact, I was the one that called the station (101 KBG)the day we all found out that Eddie was getting cancer treatment.

So, they all do a great job doing what they know, but don't expect Walter Kronkite type reports from your everyday DJ. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

None taken. I know a lot of times radio DJ's get a lot of crap hurled their way for not knowing the full story.

BUT, wouldn't you rather know what the rumors are than not hear anything? Now I can't deend DJ's who "talk out of their ass" and say things they have no knowledge of. However, as a service to keep the listeners of said radio station informed of their favorite artists' happenings, they do state rumors because it's topical and has merit being on the station. It's not radio DJ's fault that Van Halen doesn't release any info or care enough about their fans to release something more than "keep it here for more info".

For all the times you heard a DJ state a rumor that you yourself had heard about, whether here at VHLinks, VHND or anywhere else, at least you heard something. Being a diehard fan, you'd have been screaming that the DJ was a moron if he didn't say anything at all pertaining to the band.
