Just occurred to me that if we do see another VH tour, promoters will be drooling. When the Eagles went on thier tour, tickets were starting at $150 a pop ( personally, id only pay that if I got to punch Don Henley). VH tickets will be expensive. What will you sell to go? House, Kidney, first-born child (wait-someone is gonna have to drive home!). At what cost will you say Too Much. Here is where we see the true fans. What if they only do ONE show. In Antarctica.
Man, all I can do is make music and put it out, and if people like it, they like it, and if they don't, they will sooner or later.- EVH

Would that be in "Dave" money or "Sammy" money?

But hypothetically, yeah, I would pay about $200 to see VH again (w/DLR).

I just don't see it. I can't see VH getting $150 for the "gold circle" seats. The Stones, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac... it seems like the "gold circle" seats are filled with doctors and lawyers who treat the concert just like the would a night at the opera. In other words, they aren't fans...
They don't own the albums, don't know the history, and don't care. To them it's just an evenings entertainment.
Would a VH concert appeal to these people? I don't know. My gut tells me no.
The whole "gold circle" thing pisses me off. Used to be, if you were a big fan, you could get better tickets by camping out and waiting for the tickets to go on sale. Now, you can be the biggest fan in the world, but there is no way in hell you can score the first ten rows unless you can afford to pay the $150 plus the service charge. Or worse, pay $1000 to a scalper.
Then again, maybe it's just easier for a fan to pay the cash instead of waiting all night.
I don't know. Honestly, I'm not going to shell out more than $75 bucks to see anyone. (I came to that figure as that is the price I payed for prime seats to see a Broadway Show) Shit, I can buy all the DLR era CD's for less than that. Concerts have gone from entertainment for the working class to something that only "white collar workers" can afford.
Hopefully, if VH ever does hit the road again it won't be the "Soak the Fans" Tour.

If these artists are so concerned about selling out and ripping off the fans, why do they consent to do shows like that? How much money do you need in life?
To me, there's no price limit on Van Halen tickets. I'd go no matter what and would feel that it was money well spent. Other bands, like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, I don't feel the same way because they're not coming out with anything new, they're just recycling memories to line their retirement fund. If Van Halen were to come out again, you can count on new music.Could this be magic?

You bring up an interesting point. To me, it is VERY unfair to us fans that we get the second pick of seats, whereas the promoters, agents, brokers get the prime seats.
I also think it's an outrage the service fees that Ticket distributors tack on. I can see a couple bucks or so but, it's getting so that the service fee is almost as much as the ticket itself! Ticketmaster should be sued with Anti-Trust laws. If ever there was a Monopoly, it is them!
I recall, Pearl Jam took on Ticketmaster, and tried ever conceivable way around it and they were ostracized by the industry. This went on for years. I remember once they had set up a website to get your tickets and the media was PISSED! Nobody has access to the web! Why are they making it so difficult to see thier shows" They had ZERO support from the media. (Most likely because they now, like the fans, had to get there tics thru the traditional way)
Eventually, they succumbed to the pressure and sold their tickets the same as everyone else..."Keep honking buddy. I'm reloading..." -The Mard
"......HEY!.............alright............." -BIG FOOT
" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!
But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!- MARD-The Movie

Yes, but unlike the Eagles, you go see Van Halen ( Dave) for the show. I wouldn't pay that much to see the Eagles stand there and sound just like the record. I've already bought that and I can play it at home without paying $6 for watered down draft. On the other hand, Van Halen is a show, a party, etc... I'd pay $200 cause it's been so damn long. And I'm sure I'd leave with great stories, memories, etc... That IMO is what you pay for.

A Van Halen reunion tour with either singer is about as likely to occur as a Nirvana reunion tour or a Doors reunion with Morrison.
