with the new Bond film coming out later this month, I'm introducing my girlfriend to the world of Bond, James Bond. she had never seen a Bond film untl last week. We've rented about 6 of them soo far, with Connery, Moore, and Brosnan.

I love how all the movies kind of follow the same formula--the intro action part, dreamy title sequence, Bond's visit to Q's gadget room. He has to wear a tux in at least 1 scene. and the vodka martini==shaken not stirred!

so what's yall's favorite Bond flick?
the only one I haven't seen is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

the only ones I didn't really like was "Diamonds are Forever" and "Moonraker"

what's the best of each of the "eras"?

and how many chicks has Bond shagged over the years??

"Live and Let Die" is probably my all-time favorite because it introduced me to the series and to my favorite Bond actor. It took me years to sit down and enjoy the Connery movies. I think Pierce Brosan makes an excellent Bond, but the last on (The World is Not Enough) was horrible. This next one looks promising and he's already signed on for a fifth! (That'd be cool if they brought back Michelle Yeoh's character from "Tomorrow Never Dies")

James Bond? Who he?
My first movie I got to see was "The Spy Who Loved Me" and at that time HBO was kind enough to show all the movies, with the exception of "Live And Let Die" and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" - I have since seen "Live And Let Die" (which of course, boasts the best theme song in my book), but not "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". I originally preferred Moore, but I've come to appreciate Sean Connery. I also prefer the older ones as they were a bit more subtle in the sex and violence departments as opposed to the modern ones (well, as subtle as you can be while still having a female character named "Pussy Galore"!)

"Live and Let Die" is one of my favorites. My parents were big Bond fans, so it kind of took over when I was a kid. I can't stand Timoth Dalton. Looks like roaches above his eyes! This new movie is supposed to show Bond scoring, but I really think it is a little presumptious since we can find nice softcore on the net and get harder (no pun intended) from there. I really dig the car scenes though

Bond's the best. Looking forward to the new one. I actually really liked "The World is Not Enough," but then again, I probably spent half the movie picturing myself in a Sophie Marceau/Denise Richards sandwich - hold the salami

My favorite Bond was Connery, but I think "The Man with the Golden Gun" was my favorite overall flick.

One thing that I really liked about the Connery era was that Bond was a lot truer to the character portrayed in the Ian Fleming books. In those books, he's a genuine bad-ass spy, kills people when he has to without a 2nd thought. Hollywood's sorta sissified him since Moore came on board. Now, he's more like an action figure. A damn good one, though.

I think Brosnan does a good job of combining the Connery and Moore takes--a little hard mixed with a little humor.

also, times have changed and Bond has to change with him.

I laughed my ass off when Vin Diesel came out with his XXX movie. Saying how Bond was stale, etc etc. funny thing is, XXX was a Soviet spy in "The spy who loved me" the ALL rip off Bond.

it is hard to keep a straight face when watching one of the movies featuring Blofeld. It reminds me too much of Dr. Evil.

They're all good flicks. even the bad ones were good

Some of my favorites:

Dr. No
Goldfinger
Octopussy (just the name alone)

Sean Connery is my favorite Bond with Roger Moore second. I didn't like Timothy Dalton at all.

Oh, man, I can't wait for the new Bond. I'm going to buy tickets as soon as I find out my work schedule for next week. I've seen every Bond flick and the only one I don't like is Moonraker-and that one's even ok until they get into space. My favorites are Diamonds are Forever, Octopussy, Tommorow Never Dies. Ok, so they say that this is the 20th Bond flick, but how many is it really? I mean, Connery came back for Never Say Never Again, and there was Casino Royale (both of which aren't counted because they weren't made by MGM/UA). Are there any others?

my girlfriend's Bond education continued this weekend.

we rented

Goldfinger
From Russia With Love
You Only Live Twice
The Living Daylights
Liscence to Kill
Goldeneye

We've watched all of them soo far except Goldeneye.

I forgot how good "Liscene to Kill" was It was a great thriller like "..Russia". Dalton gets a bad rap for playing it too serious, but after watching his films again, I thought he was great!

something I noticed at the video store. Most of the Bond films were rented out! so I'm not the only one in my 'hood doin' some Bondonian tailgaiting

new flick next weekend.

something that's missing from about the last dozen films are the scenes where Bond and dude fight with NO MUSIC I don't need the action music to sit the tone of a good fight. some of those great Connery fights didn't have music and THAT made it a little more intense for me.

My favorite Bonds in order
1. Brosnan
2. Connery
3. Dalton
4. Lazenby
5. Moore

That's right. I like Dalton and Lazenby better than I like Roger Moore. I've taken alot of flak over the years but that's my tastes for you.

My favorite movie would have to be Goldeneye because that's the first one I saw. I liked the last one mainly due to the fact that when he had to Bond didn't hesitate to kill an unarmed woman. Call me cruel but that's true to the character in the books.

I've got all 3 of the Bond dvd box sets. Been a big fan for as long as I remember.

Faves include:

From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Goldeneye
Live and Let Die
Dr No

Gotta go with Connery, Moore just got too silly in the end for me.

Hain, you gotta check out On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it's not near as bad as it's rap. People just couldn't accept anyone but Connery at the time.

from what I've heard it's the most "pure" Bond flick they just don't rent it at my local video store.
and I never catch it on TV---it's the one where Bond gets married--something they mention in a few of the other films

we watched Goldeneye last night-I had forgotten how "Conneresque" it was!-- from the female henchmen Onatop to the usual over the top "kick in the theme song for this superspectacular stunt"-ala tank chase

I always love the title sequences too! the theme songs aren't always great but the visuals are cool as hell

some things you can ALWAYS count on happening in a Bond flick

1-some kind of stunt involving water
2-car chase
3-at least two girls--1 evil and 1 good
4-martini will be ordered
5-flirt with Moneypenny
6-Q's "bring it back in one piece 007!"
7-a casino, card game, black tux
8-meet the villian face to face without villian knowing he's 007
9-stunt involving an airplane
10-and of course the 1 liners!

oh, and there's always a shady guy who helps Bond out too!

Love Bond films man - my parents took me with them to the cinema when I was quite young to see 'Live and Let Die' and I haven't looked back!

Fave Bonds;
Roger Moore
Pierce Brosnan

Fave Films;
Live and Let Die
The Spy who loved me
Tomorrow never dies
The world is not enough (great villain)

Bit sad that old 'Q' died, but it might be fun if John Cleese is a permanent replacement......

Ya know, the new Bond film looks great, but why does he surf? I think this is just another way that is gonna make surfing even more mainstream that it already is. All these kids are gonna wanna be just like Bond and try and surf . . . oh well, I'm just bitter, don't mind me!
