The Melodicrock report seemed to infer that Edward would rather "go Marshall" on the rumored upcoming tour.

I have been told that the relationship between Peavey and EVH are quite good at the moment. As always, there was a bit of tweaking needed to get the 5150 II amp up to Edward's standards, but that the finished product was something he "could tour with".

When I asked directly about the Marshall rumour, I was told that his Marshall sound was "taken care of on day one". I took this to mean that they could always manipulate the needed Marshall tone, but it was not stated as clearly as this.

I also went out on a limb and asked if they were privy to upcoming tour details. He informed me that "I would be the last person he would tell". They guard their relationship with EVH at all costs.

He did say that a tour would almost cerainly cue an upswing in production, but that there would be no external evidence that this was happening (i.e. increased vendor activity).

No offence bro, but did you really think they'd say anything to him. There so much ridin' on this thing that nobody's gonna know until the last moment. Shit! I bet even the band members won't know til the last second.

I think I recall Eddie saying that he was happy with the 5150II but it still didn't grab the marshall sound. He said that his next challenge for Peavey is to make an amp that can make the marshall sound too. I don't know why this guy told you that the marshall problem was solved on day one - Ed himself admits that the 5150 is no superlead (yet - Eddie will get it done though) - it makes good sounds but different sounds.

First of all I think Ed's Peavey's sound is great. They are a hybrid of a Marshall and a Soldano. I think Ed as with every other great guitarist out there would like a different sound every day of the year. That means we should have 365 5150 models to come out...yeah! That is why I switched to digital modeling amps. I can't afford to keep up with Ed's sounds in his head. Secondly, just because it's old doesn't mean it's the best sounding. You won't believe some of the cheap crap manufacturers have used 30+ years ago in an amp. Alot of equipment today is computer designed and the material is more rigid. I think this thread should be in the guitar room. Nuff said!
