This is the only DLR Solo tune I've ever heard and really liked. Vai plays the Guitar incredibly in this song, and it's just a great rocker. I dunno why it's so underrated...no one here seems to list it among their favorite songs. Shyboy is an awesome rocking song!

The song ain't dirty it's really just the way we sing it...

That song rocks, Everyone goes ballistic on that song.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the song was written by Billy Sheehan.
    Mr.Big performed that song too

Actually it was Billy's prior band (before DLR), Talas, that performed the song, which Billy wrote.

    Steve Vai did it justice.

Mr. Big did it live, too.

OUTSTANDING!!!! Track - shows off the best of the EEAS band.

Yeah, Billy wrote it - but I don't think it was ever recorded w/Talas, only played live. Billy is credited on EEAS, but on 'The Best' DLR is credited for 'arrangement'.

Kick-ass song! It reminds me a little like 'Hang'em High'. Billy, Steve and Greg certainly showed that they could rock 'almost' as good as Mike, Eddie and Alex.

i had an old Talas tape (High Speed on Ice live? maybe) that had Shyboy on it...i've also got a Japanese import of Mr. Big Live (Lean Into It tour) that's got a smokin' version on it. i took my copy to the Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert clinics i went to and had it signed. saw the EEAS tour twice, i remember Vai spinning the bar on his Floyd like he was winding it up during the solo...

Shit, now that you mention it, I can't remember for sure, and I can't check my cassette either--I gave it to a friend who's really into Sheehan.

You're on the ball - I was thinking of my old EEAS cassette - and that just says published by Cherry Lane Music, no mention of Diamond Dave Music. Funny how I never noticed DD Music on the CD version.

I agree it was great hearing that song again, Billy played bass on that tour with Vai, that was so cool, and before he opened, Vai played the intro to Yankee Rose, then hit it right into Shy Boy.
    Great Song.
