Could VH be rising from the grave?

Eddie says it's time to get back to the music and fun and we will hear from the band soon. Then Mike says on the Mark and Brian show that VH will be firing up soon and that they all have to just lock themselves in a rubber room with a bat and settle their differences. So this must mean they are most definately picking Roth or Hagar. I get this strange feeling it's Hagar since Mike is hanging around with Sam so much lately. At this point I don't care if it's Roth or Hagar as long as they do something. A 4th singer would just plain suck! [img]graemlins/scared.gif[/img]

Nothing relevant can be inferred from the alleged facts. After all, the facts of what is really going on in Van Halen are just speculative at best...

I would love to see Sammy back. I'm a fan of both eras, actually, all three, but when they perform live, I'm partial to Sam--he can hit all the same notes he can in studio. I don't care if it's Dave or Sam, but I hope something happens with one of them!!!!

Yeah, I'd have to go with Sammy too. He is the better singer, and even though they've had a falling out, I think Sam and EVH like one another better than EVH and Dave. If Dave were to rejoin the band, we all know that it wouldn't last long.
Although I love the music VH did with Dave, I find him lacking in singing ability, and I personally can't stand his stage presence. Forgetting words to songs live in front of 10,000
people is very unprofessional if you ask me. It's not like VH lyrics are complex in context.
Now I'm not saying this to be Anti-Dave, cause there are certain things I like about him, I just think Sammy is the better all around choice.
However, I truly don't see Sam or Dave back in VH, so I guess it doesn't matter what I think.

though i would love dave back, i would rather have sammy. i love all the vh albums with dave you can never touch them they stand alone, but we all know if dave is back it would take no time at all before dave and eddie went at it and dave was gone again. i think if they took sammy they would go on longer with him. all i know there is alot of 80s bands on the rise again and we need van halen at the head of the pack. I'll admit that there's *noone* like DLR, but he just doesn't have it anymore, so...why is it that Sammy's the only other choice? Do you guys prefer something familiar?? Is it a safe avenue?? I mean, Sammy's got the voice and all, but so does a zillion other singers out there and I bet there's more that can write a song better than him too.
I dunno...I just think the Sam and Dave thing has been done and can't understand why you guys want to hear it again. Why not subscribe to the AC/DC forum................

Release a double cd of new material with both of them and then do a full world arena tour(sound is better than in stadiums). Who really gives a shit who's "better" anymore?!? They both kick ass in their own respective way. And face it, they are BOTH living legends! Then release "old" live stuff and rarities (early demos, Oakland '81, US Festival'83, Philly '84, Japan'89 etc. etc.) Then ride off into the sunset singing "Happy Trails" and leaving millions upon millions of fans with that eternal VH grin on their faces(remember the way Eddie looked in the "Jump" video?!) Yeah, THAT grin.

Reminds me of something else I read once:

VH should release a DVD called "Van Halen: The Making Of" where they show the band auditioning various singers and talking about it, etc, etc, but not tell anyone who they chose. People can watch the video, make their conclusions, and find out who was chosen when the new album is released.

The new album should be a four disc set featuring a disc of Dave rarities (Simmons Demos/Zero, recent recordings, etc) remastered, Sam rarities (5150 Outtakes, etc) remastered, Gary Live + demos, and a totally new album, with the fourth singer (someone auditioned on the DVD).

Names?

a) VH4 (obvious), or just the runes
b) Four Singers and Several Years to Go
c) Van Halen's Fourth (in A-Minor)

Or name each disc (Something Old, Somthing New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, etc)

The cover of the album should mimic LZ4 with the runes, one for each member (Ed/Guitar (or cigarette), Al/Sticks, Mike/JD, New Singer/?). The disc and front cover should feature franky design.

And then, after all of this, they should fire their lead singer and try to reconcile with Dave again. When that fails, they can release an album of Dave outtakes from the latest attempt and title it "Third Time's a Charm".

All I know is that I'm just tired from all the waiting. We have yet to talk about a new album since this board opened. That says it all. 2003 is our best hope for some new music.

Sammy and VH have proven chemistry together. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I dont care if its Sam of Dave(I would prefer Sam, but i am by no means gonna complain either way). A fourth singer is not an option. Right now EVH and AVH have become rock and roll hasbeens, and i hate to say it because i love this band. The only way to establish themselves back is Sam or Dave plain and simple. And from what its beginning to look like, it may be Sam.

Those are my opinions so I obviously would rather have good songs. I want to live with the CD. I'd see the live show once, maybe twice (or more, depending on how good the songs are). The Dave era had a punk/blues quality that none of the imitators could pull off. Sam+VH was a very good pop/rock band. They were way better than most pop/rock bands, and there were many. How many punk/blues bands were there? VH made it on there originality. BEING A GREAT GUITARIST WILL NOT GUARANTEE LEGEND STATUS!! It is all about the songs. Let me repeat, it is all about the songs, the songs...the songs...the songs. GIVE ME ONE GOOD VH ALBUM WITH DAVE THEN GO AWAY IF YOU MUST! I listened to Balance the other day for the first time in ages and was amazed at the mediocrity. I like 5150 and F*U*C*K but hey, I want Dave with VH, not Sammy. To bore you more with opinion, I preferred Sammy over Dave on this last tour but Dave+VH is like John and Paul, Keith and Mick, etc. etc. etc.
