ya got quite a few early vh cover bands...don't know if there's a sammy era one but you think someone would come up with a band that does all eras....maybe call it ...best of both worlds ...?

I think a few of the VH tribute bands out there actually do dabble in both eras.

I saw a fantastic Canadian tribute band the other night in Rochester. They were called VH and they played mostly Roth with a few Sammy hits. They were damn good. Every one of them were excellent musicians and performers. Check them out (probably mostly in Canada and the east coast.)

I'd like to check out the tribute band VH sometime. It's such a cute name for a band since we all refer to Van Halen as "VH" anyway. Their website is http://www.vhtribute.com

Their guitarist, Randy, played for the Canadian tribute band 5150 a few years back. 5150 got a new guitarist, but they disbanded about a year ago. 5150 ruled. They used to do all the Sammy stuff. I sure miss them.

VH tribute bands getting a lot of gigs these days.

This one is the closest I’ve seen to get Dave’s athleticism.

"He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal" -Camille Paglia on Donald Trump

"But, fucking with Brook is like fucking with hot shit on and ax handle. You just don't get a grip"-track5

"Make way for the bad guy"- Tony Montana

'This hamburger don't need no helper"- David Lee Roth

"I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing, and they would've sold a lot fewer records." -David Lee Roth

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen

Nothing like reviving a 22 year old thread.

Band is playing Unchained like from the 1984 tour with that pace.

He's definitely got the athleticism but unfortunately combined with a bit of a cookie monster voice.

There was a band called "Fair Warning" back in the 90s in the NY/NJ area who were the best VH band I've heard to this day. Their singer had Dave's voice nailed down. It was damn near perfect. And, their guitarist was unbelievable. I think his name was Eric Stewart. I remember he played a 5150 clone, but his main guitar seemed to be a custom Tele with a Rosewood neck, single bucker, a Floyd, and I remember it having a sort of reflector-type top to it. A swirling, silvery, pearlescent look. Cool guitar, and he was unfriggin'-believable. Had Eddie DOWN. Roth only material, though. Anybody on here from the tri-state area back then remember them?

Yes, I know exactly who and what band you are referring to. Eric went to my high school (Glen Rock High School) in NJ, was two years older than me (in my brother's graduating class). He was known by all to be an Eddie "freak". I saw his band a couple of times around the area when I got to be in my early 20s. Yes, he was great no doubt
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

I played in one called BalancE for years that did both eras. We were based out of NH and it was fun as all of us went to high school together. It was a ton of work though. We also did it in the early 2000's and technology has made some of the things easier to do. Better PA systems, Ipad for the keyboard tunes, in ear monitors. It's a lot different now.

Yeah, Eric worked at Ritchie's guitars, too. I talked with him a few times. Back then, having a 5150 copy was rare. I wanted to know where he got it. We got into a conversation about him having built his guitars at Ritchie's. He seemed a good guy. And, definitely an Eddie freak. He was the closest I got to seeing classic-era Eddie.
