on vh's official homepage i found these 15 seconds of MA singing "somebody get me a doctor" (VH 3 tour)
http://www.van-halen.com/newsite/mikebio.html
well, that doesn't suck at all
could VH put out a whole record with MA doing all the singing? at least one song would be ok?
cheers,
SToRMdave, we'd like to go upstairs, the two of us, with you ...

I heard the entire song on MP3 and I was impressed. I hope he sings lead on at least one song on a new album. Heck, let him sing lead vocals on all the songs.

It's funny. I would have never thought Mike had such a range. I thought his voice was just super high naturally, but I downloaded an mp3 of him singing SGMAD and I was impressed with how low he can go too. Probably one of the largest ranges in rock, truely.

Mike did a great job on the Cherone VH tour singing that !! By far, the best part of the show for me.
I really dont think he should sing all the time, VH sounds better with a singer and Mike singing harmonies.
Mike is Awesome !! He is and always has been an intregal part of Van Halen.

Even though I didn't get to see Mike do this live, I've got a bunch of VH3 live shows and he kicks ass on everyone of them!! I say let "SGMAD" become Mike's "song"...the one he sings with everyone else backing him up. Kinda keep that one sacred yet make it that "crown jewel" of a VH concert.
He just sounds so pumped and excited to be doing it!

Mike was great in that one.
However, his harmonies helped make VH famous, not so much his lead singing. They should have a singer.

It was cool seeing Mikey rip into that song because he was just having so much fun doing it. I certainly prefer that to hearing an extended bass solo (or any solo for that matter). What I loved too was, on a couple boots I've heard, at the end, Eddie and Gary were singing "somebody get Mike a doctor"!
But it's really more of a novelty thing, he's so good at the backup vocals, no need to get greedy and want him singing lead.

I agree 100%. I think a MAJOR factor in our enjoyment of it is the simple fact that it's a different sound source than we're used to hearing for however many songs in a row. I, for one, don't care much for the unaccompanied solos that drag on for ages, but they serve the purpose of breaking up the constant onslaught of sound from the full band.
When I used to play in bars/clubs, we HAD to play 4 hours a night; the owners would not allow many multi-band bills. As a result, the audience was stuck hearing the same guys go at it for a LONG time. Even though we took breaks, it just gets tiresome to the ears. Even I would not want to hear VH, at stage volume, nonstop for a whole show.
I think Mike's singing was just a smart change of pace, and a nice surprise element as well.Don't bark at me...I didn't name ya.

I thought I heard that Mike also sang Runnin with the Devil on the 3 tour.
One of the only MP3's I downloaded from that tour was SGMAD and it rocks. I have heard Mike sing lead a little when Sam was in the band and when Sam and Mike played Cabo. I remember hearing that Sammy wanted to record a song with Mike and him sharing lead vocals, now that would have been cool. I always loved the way Sammy and Mike's voice blended together.
Anyway Mike does a great job on SGMAD!
