16 months!!!!

16 months ago today Gary left/got kicked out of VH. Boy, how much longer do I have to fucking wait!

The waiting is not as bad as not knowing anything. They should announce something allittle bit more concrete than we are working on a new album.

I mean, duh, everyone knows that!

i agree. say something. its not rocket science - just a van halen album!

all ed has to say is something like: "we're writing and recording with dave. we haven't made any announcements because it s been a lengthly process. the plan is to release the album and get the tour started by the end of the year. thanks for your support - see you on the road."

is that too hard? and what would it hurt?

and the strangest thing about it:
if they´re just playing for their lesure
there is no need doing a record.
the record is only be done for us
- THE FANS ! -
So just a little information wouldn´t be that hard to do.

Or do they wait until Napster is closed ?

I wouldn't worry too much. We all know what's going on. Maybe not in the detail we'd like, but we know.

I think the reasons for the band being silent are self-evident. Last time they got back with Dave there was a media backlash that caused big problems. There was a lot of media pressure on them, and things were said that they perhaps regret now. Why open up the door for those things to happen again?

Record the music, and let it do the talking.

I respect everyone's opinion but I disagree.
Everything is being kept quiet and let the music do the talking. No problem, I understand.
But, lets say something goes wrong anyway.
Roth then will have no reason to be silent and we will have '96 all over again.

I personally feel that everything is fine and will be fine. And we will be hearing a kick ass album soon. My point is that nothing is gained by all this secrecy (I think I misspelled that last word).

Something is gained, though. They're out of the public eye, which keeps them out of the media. That gives them the space to do what they need to, both professionally and personally.

Right now VH is very, very obscure. The media isn't chasing around trying to find a picture of Dave and Eddie, or to ask some rather probing questions. The guys learned their lesson last time, and obviously decided to prevent that sort of calamity this time.

How they chose to do that is their business. I'd rather have an album and possibly a tour, rather than a public blowup.

Obviously they have heard that - but they still haven't said anything. So my guess is yes, they do think it would hurt - and that we don't know everything that is going on. After all there is no new music yet, which suggests it hasn't been an easy ride.

My feeling for the longest time has been that they won't say anything until everything is pretty much in place. Not because they want to piss off US the fans. But rather because they don't want to deal with the PRESS....much better to have the press SPECULATING about a POSSIBLE reunion than to KNOWING for sure and crucifying them for nostalgia, money, broken promises about never working together again. Then they'd get drawn into that kind of confrontation/justification rather than concentrating on what they should be doing.

There is no such thing as a "simple" message to the fans. I can't believe that anyone buys for one second that such an announcement would be met by a "ok, we'll leave you alone for 6 months now that we know" response

But of course they have sent messages to us the fans, it's just never good enough or explicit enough for some people though.

I have just grown disinterested after hearing nothing after all this time and invested my time in other bands who have shown their fans more respect. When the announcement happens I will be just as excited as everyone, I am just in 'hibernation' mode till then.

Well back to the topic, damn it's a good feeling knowing GC's not in the band anymore!

Low blow to all his fan's but they were like oil and water and never mixed.

Lol ... If it's the music that's taking them this long then I can wait. Now if it's trouble in paradise with ego's flying and cupwearing mo fo's then I can wait.
