i'm one of those nuts who buys any and all VH related stuff (well dave-era i should note). i have a pretty big collection.
anyway i've been holding off on picking up the japan best of for well 4 years now i guess...
anyway i recently saw someone selling one on ebay. i bid but didn't win. anyway he mentioned on his cd that it came with a sticker and also had hot for teacher and the radio-edit of can't get this... on it.
now i knew about the hot for teacher addition, but i hadn't seen theat the radio-edit was on the cd, or that it came with the sticker.
anybody out there buy it and if so, what's the word. before i drop the $ at cdnow i wanna make sure i'm getting the right version.
thanks all,

Why do the Japanese releases always have extra tracks? I remember reading that in Japan, the domestic releases are actually *more* expensive than the US imports. Therefore, the extra tracks ecourage the Japanese to buy domestic. True?

I'm not sure, but I recall someone once saying, "Each company makes its own decisions."
I suppose with Bov1 perhaps Warner in Japan decided to include Hot for Teacher on it, and since VH obviously didn't object, they get it.
I think with Balance and Crossing Over, the song wasn't finished for the US pressing but was for the Japanese, and they decided to just include it on the album.
This is all speculation, since I don't know exactly how much control the label has over the songs that make the final cut.

Well, I liked "Akira."
But yeah, in the end, it just isn't fair.

I've answered this question MANY times, about bonus tracks on CD's in Japan.
The average price for a CD in Japan is 2,500 Yen. If you do the conversion at 100 Yen to the U.S. $1 it equates to $25. At that price, it's not uncommon to find CD's with as many as 4 bonus tracks included, depending on who the artist might be. There might be a remix of the lead-off single, while the others are originals that will eventually end up as B-sides on CD singles in the States.
Since the cost of living is so high in Japan, and everything is so expensive (i.e. $7 for a beer, $1.20 for a can of Pepsi, $5.00 for a Big Mac meal at McD's, $12 for a watermelon, etc.), having extra tracks on CD's is considered a perk. Record industry executives figure at those prices, throwing a bonus track or two on a CD is something well-deserved. In Japan 2 versions of a CD are sold; the Japanese version with bonus tracks, and the U.S. version, which to the Japanese *is* an import, without bonus tracks. Those are the discs that usually only cost about $16.
As for the Japan release of "BOV1", it contains "Hot For Teacher" as a bonus track, and there is a radio edit (or a "censored" version) of "Can't Get This Stuff No More". They deleted Dave singing "fuck it" after he sings, "Got me a date with a supermodel. I know, I know...I figured 'Fuck it!'" There is also a sticker of the VH flame logo, and a booklet with the lyrics in both Japanese and English.
How do I know all of this? Besides being all-knowing and all-seeing, I've been living in Japan for the last 5 years and have visited here 4 times previously.
If anyone ever needs any help about Japan releases, or have questions about Japan in particular, feel free to ask!
Hope all of this helped you out and answered your questions!

Fur Elise is correct. Every once in a while you can find the MWM single on EBAY and it has and the radio edit version of CGTSNM. It's usually DJ who have the cd that was given to them to play.
