MTV Awards.. 1991

They played 'Poundcake' on the show.. but they also played a warm-up tune BEFORE the broadcast.

Anyone know which song?

i'm guessing top of the world. shouldn't this go to VH 101? either way, if they were playing an awards show, if they won, they'd be happy, and feeling on top of the world, thus, i give you my guess. [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img]

I don't know what they warmed up with, but I do remember Arsenio Hall introducing them as the "greatest American rock and roll band ever"!

Yeah I remember that, MTV actually played some decent tunes back then. When Arsenio was introducing the band you could hear Ed's drill go off and it was just frigin awesome. No to mention the boys being interviewed after their performance and expousing something like "they were their own opening act" and having a chuckle about it. In 1992 when VH won for video of the year wasn't Ed a little pissed off at the end of the show. I think it had something to do with Sam bad mouthing Howard Stern or something.

they played best of both worlds, I remember reading that back in the day. god did van halen kick ass in '91. seems like a lifetime ago that this band did anything worth mentioning, cuz vh3 is not.
