Neal Schon joins Sammy on stage

HAGAR AND SCHON JAM IN CALIFORNIA:
Last weekend saw Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon on stage together, with Schon guesting at a Waborita's gig.
Neal joined Sammy for the same four songs on both nights of the two gig stand at Konocti Harbor.
I am told the songs featured were: Rock Candy, Heavy Metal, Crossroads (same track Neal and Slash jammed on with Bad Company, last week in San Diego), Whiter Shade Of Pale (also featured on the HSAS album).
Sammy Hagar wins quote of the week for his statement from the stage during the encore. Using some colourful language, Sammy mentioned how his last three CDs have not sold well, but his tequila sold over a million bottles in the last year.
Apparently he's not worried about the records, because his bottles went platinum. Nice!

It just doesn't matter to me anymore.

Sammy can reunite with his HSAS friends, thats fine.
Dave can try ANOTHER (unsuccesful) attempt at stardom without Van Halen.

Van Halen is still Eddie, Alex & Mike to me.

Don't see any VH content in this, Moving to Non VH related music forums.

Sorry Eddymon but I have to disagree with you. Even though Dave and Sam are not IN the band anymore, I think topics about them deserve to be in the Main VH Discussion. Those two were a part of the success of the band. To write them off, would be an injustice. Second, if you were to limit the discussion to just the CURRENT members of VH, their would topics about golf magazines, Parade section of the newspaper and a giveaway contest.

The way Eddie has treated people who have supported him for years is so out of hand. Though he has worked hard and earned every penny he has made, he doesn't seem to think he needs to give any customer service to his consumers. He owes us nothing and we owe him nothing but I think we all want to respect him but he doesn't give a shit because we have already made him rich.

With that said, nothing would make me happier in the summer of 2003 sitting at Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC watching Hagar and Anthony on stage together jamming some old tunes and new ones. Doing what they can to bring a sound back to a new generation and if not able to do this letting those of us who grew up during the 80's a chance to enjoy something on a large scale. I know this isn't any consolation for the Dave or Grave crowd but lets face it-- Hagar, Anthony, Schon and Slash playing some 5150 or OU812, or F.U.C.K as well as some other great (HSAS or Hagar) classics and maybe a new classic or two looks like about as close as we will come to hearing anything sounding like VH anytime soon. Don't misunderstand I'm not saying this is like seeing VH again but maybe as close as we will ever get again. And for the Dave or Grave crowd you won't have to worry about Hagar 'messing up' that classic VH sound, I'm sure there will be no Panama or Jump or Ain't Talkin 'bout love.

The shows at the small venues are fun and it is nice to be able to get within 5 feet of someone who's music you enjoy but there isn't anything like kicking back with 20,000 plus and listening to some great rock. Save a VH reunion with Dave or Sammy this is going to be as close as it gets and at least one more real rock show for this 30something fan. I hope it comes together and Anthony is there with Sammy again. "Worrying about

I am glad Sammy's Tequila sells more than his records do. I have added to that fund for sure.

I hope Sammy does jam with Schon and the boys. If Mike is up there with them, kool !!

I don't like JOURNEY, but if VH is really at a stand-still, I hope Mikey tells Eddie to fuck himself and joins Sammy. Eddie will still probably have the balls to continue as Van Halen with only half the original band in existence...well, if Alex is still alive that is. If he is, maybe he should do a solo album of drum solos.
