No word on whether they have a singer.

"Guitarist Eddie Van Halen, his drummer brother Alex Van Halen and bassist Michael Anthony are in a Los Angeles studio recording the next Van Halen album, according to the band's Warner Bros. Records publicist. The spokesperson could not confirm whether they're working with a singer. Van Halen parted ways with their third singer, former Extreme frontman Gary Cherone, in the fall. The band, whose previous frontmen were David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, released just one album with Cherone, Van Halen 3 (1998)."

In this article and the Mtv one, MA says the past two years is the longest the band has been off the road. I thought it was 3 years between OU812 and F.U.C.K.? Glenn, care to jump in here?

ou812 came out in the spring of '89. they did monsters of rock that summer i believe and i think they followed that touring in the winter, which would put them into 1990.
FUCK came out in june of '91 and they hit the road right after, so mike is probably right.

we haven't seen the boys at all since '98 or early '99 at the latest. it's already 2001, and we definitely won't see them for at least another 6 months at the earliest.

FUCK was released in June of 91. The FUCK tour went from Aug 91 to May 92.

The RHRN tour went from Mar 93 to Aug 93.
