hi folks!
just want to remember;
steve lukather even has gone through a divorce! and he still makes music! so ed is not the only person, who goes through that crap, and i think, he will go on in the next 2 or 3 years!
maybe the divorce is better, than living together with his wife just for his son, and when he gets that in his head, he will go on. hey, he makes music since his early teenager-years, why should he put it down yet?
(sorry for my crapy english, i lost it somewhere)
EDIT;
and he STILL makes music, the newest is on the next steve lukather christmas-record, so don´t always think so negative

Good point about Luthaker!
I read that Ed likes his music (and may have even jammed with him at some point?), so maybe Luthaker can help Ed through the tough times ahead. And if that leads Ed back to the recording studio, so much the better.

hey, he has done some recording and jamming with lukather in the late 80 and early 90s... remember the jam with sammy, "i want action"? that jam with sammy had turn into "twist the knive" with steve lukather...
and he recorded it about 6 or 8weeks ago, a song with him, for the new steve lukather christmas-album, so he is still fine, i think...
i mean the divorce crap, seems this stuff is nothing new to him, a divorce don´t happen from one day to another, it is a long periode of time...
so he knew it a few month or even years ago, that this divorce is gonna happen.
and i don´t think that hes broken now, i think he is tired, from this stuff, not broken...
the other thing is al, how is he doing? if he gets well, then we know that a new halen record is coming out soon... they seem to jam alot, and because of this, they will start a new saga, i hope so... That's a great point gravedigger. We have to keep in mind that while it's a sad shock to the rest of us, Valerie and Edward have been going through this for a long, long time. Who knows? At this point, although, I'm sure it's not easy, I think the worst part (hopefully) is over. They have a committment to Wolfgang and that's wonderful.
Could this be magic?

Good to hear that Ed has done some recent work with Luthaker. I missed the "I want action" jam with Hagar. Do you know if it's around anywhere?
The distinction between Ed being tired rather than broken could be keen. I remember reading the stuff from this year's LA Poilceman Golf Tournament. Ed said something like "All that matters to me is my son and my health" No mention of Val, which I thought was a little strange at the time. But I thought it could have been because Ed was in a golf setting rather than a more formal interview setting.
As for Al, I haven't heard much. Someone posted the other day that they (or someone they know) saw him in a restaurant the day of Sam & Dave's LA show, got his autograph and talked with him for a few minutes. They said he was super cool and looked fine.
One thing I do remember Al saying on the Right Here, Right Now video was that he thought he'd be making music until he died. That seems to be what he and Ed's dad did, and they idolized the man, so retirement might not be so easy for them. At least that's what I hope.

after the positive, the negative.
it's really bizarre how married people always say family comes first, but instead of staying together they break up and most of the time at a crucial moment for their kids.
would a parents-divorce affect a 20 or 30 year old son or daughter the same way as a 10 or 15 year old kid?
i don't think so ...
selfish people anyway
cheers,
SToRMdave, we'd like to go upstairs, the two of us, with you ...

"i want action", you can get it at kazaa, there are some more van halen jams or unreleased material.
and yes, a divorce is the worsest thing for a kid, but he will get over it someday, when he understand, why they get into a divorce..."Who are you tryin' to get crazy with, ese? I don't a divorce is going to stop a musician from making music. As emotional as a divorce is, even non-celebrities go back to work and do their job. Yes, it's still on their mind but life keeps going on.
I think the death of a loved one would be a lot harder on somebody. Look at Neil Peart and Eric Clapton who continue to make music even after the tragedies they've suffered.
All in all, Eddie will be back.Remember the Heroes - 9/11/01
