Wow. I just had a huge bitchslapping. I was over checking out the Audioslave message board. There is a "Who is the greatest guitarist of alltime thread going. I was shocked to see how little Eddie was mentioned. I've been a really patient little Van Halenite. But for god sake Eddie. You have to come back out and show these youngsters whats what!!!

Here's the link. Spread the word if you like but be respectful of their ignorance. They were most likely only thirteen when the last VH album was released!"Why behave in public if you're living on a playground?"

Dude, chill out man! I don't know what you've been taking! He's mentioned, and there's not enough posts to really amke any kind of statistics.
On the other hand, if you have any of that white powdery stuff left...

If I was the only life form in the galaxy that happened to think EVH was the shit, then so be it.
I certainly wouldnt pop a jugular because some board somewhere on the internet didnt have every poster slavering over frankenstats.
As a VH board, thats OUR territory anyway! A little zen....... Headed your way.......

Eddie doesn't feed off the "greatest guitar player ever" crap.
It doesn't bother him if he's ranked #1 or #1,000. That is what I have picked over the years in reading interviews with him.
He knows he is damn good, and thats all he needs to feel.
But I do feel that "VAN HALEN" the band doesn't get enough recongnition though. Seems like KISS gets a hell of alot more. Maybe Eddie should wear make-up and make his guitar smoke.'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

First of all you guys are missing the point. Guitar Player Magazine had to start the Gallery of the Greats thing because Eddie won everything for years. They had to retire him from the competition to give others a chance. I'm shocked that more people don't mention him now. I didn't realize how many people don't recognize. Can you fell me homey???
As far as getting excited, your'e reading waaaaaayyyyyy to much in to the post. Your imaginations are getting away from you....."Why behave in public if you're living on a playground?"

Ed deserves the respect. He not only influenced thousands of guitar players. He influenced the way guitars are made. Many manufacturers use Ed as a template when they design new gear.
Ed was the major motivation behind custom made guitars. In other words, when people customized their guitars with special pickups, neck etc, I beleive Ed was a big part of that. Although, I have spoken with people in the manufacturing industry that will back me up.
The new Line 6 POD XT has a preset call "Marshall 1968 Variac Plexi", ADA MP1 preamps have a "Brown" preset, and on and on. Who started the double coil pickup in a strat? I beleive it's Ed, unless someone knows of someone else.
I do have respect for many guitar players. But Ed VH is in a league of his own!
