ok ok ok so i may be the odd one out- and right after the remasters come out we will see people hocking their cd collections en masse for dirt cheap on ebay-

    but who cares??!!!

so we get it remastered- can you REALLY tell a difference? yeah, i know alex said "i can hear the difference...yadda" but do you expect him to do anything else??

if we got the extra tracks i would be the biggest supporter of the remasters. when they did the stevie ray vaughn remasters they included demos, alternates etc. it was cool as all hell.

so with the van halen remasters what do we get for the privelage of throwing a few collective millions at vh and warner sisters?

    liner notes.

excuse me, i think i just passed out from anticipation.

liner notes- like the fans who care enough to get the remasters won't already be able to get the same info from the internet and the vh encyclopedia.

is this what we have come too? they can't even take the outtakes from the same sessions that produced the albums in the first place? no demo versions?

sorry to be so negative but i don't see the point.

Well, there are actually some people out there that don't own these albums - silly fools. So they will be able to get a better quality sound than those of us that already have them. Plus there are people that will buy them because they feel the sound is better, even though they have the originals. I don't like putting bonus tracks on them because then I will feel like I have to buy them, and I've already bought them twice as it is. With the current plan, I can choose to buy them or not - and it will probably be "or not". But those that don't have them or those that want the better sound or even those that never owned the original albums on vinyl and are missing some of the artwork will buy them. And that's okay. And, if for some reason something should happen to one of my CDs, I know I'll be able to get an improved version of it.

jorL, you make good points, but me, I'm still buying the new versions. They'd just better not fuck up any of the songs, a la the new and improved version of RWTD on BOV1.

Just think about it Lead Synth you have that screwed up version of RWTD. Some people I know have the second release of BOV1 and have the corrected version. Think of it as a collectors item.

I have two BOV1's and they both have that screwed up version of RWTD on them. It's annoying to always have to skip over Track 3 because what they did completely ruins that song.

I'm with AJW on this one. I think it's kind of cool having the screwed up version of RWTD.

Anyway, I'll definately buy the remastered CD's. I don't necessarily think they need to be done, but I'm dying to see what the difference is. Of course, if I buy them and I can't tell the difference I'll be pissed off, but I'm going to take that chance.

I'm with you Glenn. I'm going to by all the remasters as well.

I am going to buy them as well. I have the Gold Disc "Van Halen" and absolutely you can tell the difference. I like having the screwed up RWTD too Glenn, just don't like listening to it.

Question for you Brett or Glenn. How do you think the screwed up version of RWTD fell through the cracks? Don't you think whoever mastered and recorded the disk would have caught this error?

I don't know much of anything about mixing and remastering or all of that stuff. I don't know how RWTD got messed up but I would think the person who messed it up must have been pretty embarressed.

Of course, like NO ONE would have listened back to it and noticed it being wrong?? Definitely did not slip through the cracks in my opinion, it was done on purpose. How do you accidentally re-mix an entire track and accidentally put in on an album and miraculously no one catches it before it is relased? Come on, no way.

Any theory about why? Done on purpose by the band or the person who remastered it?

Whether they want to say so or not, I think it was orchestrated to make the CD sell more by having a screwy version of a song on it, and then miraculously fix it in the next pressing.

My RWTD on my BOV1 seems fine, but then again I've bought it this year.

Iron Maiden also screwed up two of their enhanced CDs. Piece Of Mind and Powerslave. Powerslave (the title track starts off after the intro). Slayer also had that problem on the initial pressing of "Reign In Blood". Man that pisses me off!!!

On Piece of Mind I'm not sure, my own POM CD is pretty old so I rely on other people to tell me that the enhanced POM CD is screwed up. Brett do you have Piece of Mind? Is the ending of "trooper" screwed up? I hear that it was.

Doc, I have "Piece Of Mind," the remastered version and mine seems fine. I just got it two weeks ago so maybe it was corrected recently. VH's BOV1 was fixed probably three years ago now.
