Alex Van Halen is a chump. I wouldn't doubt it if he was the main reason Dave and Sammy left VAN HALEN. He had absolutely nothing to do with the writing of the music but made his orders loud and clear throughout as if he should have a say in what should go down. Alex Van Halen destroyed VAN HALEN. He married Ray Danniel's (manager of the band RUSH) sister in hopes of controlling VAN HALEN. Alex always admired the freedom RUSH bestowed upon Neil Peart ( the drummer for RUSH), as if VAN HALEN didn't already allow total artistic fredom for Al. Well Al didn't feel they did, so he snaked his way into Ray's sister's life, spent a lot of money swooing her then positioned himself to start his coo against Sammy and Eddie, his own brother. The rest is history and oh yeah, Alex divorced Ray's sister after the VAN HALEN III debacle. True love.

Wow...I don't know what to say. If he was the reason, why didn't either Sam or Dave just say it was him all along. And why can't an Alex Van Halen argument ever be void of mentioning Neil Peart? At least this is something I've never heard before...Alex has been married and divorced many a time, so I'm not really shaken up by that. This is just plain weird. By the way, did Alex cut you off on the way to video store or something? Just curious...

I always thought his drumming was bloated and sloppy sounding personally.

Well, rather than start a new thread, what perfect timing that this old thread about Alex popped up.

I've been thinking lately...what if the reason Van Halen, and more specifically Eddie have done nothing since 04 is because Ed and Al are now on the outs. I know blood is thicker than water and all of that, but they wouldn't be the first brothers to have problems with each other. Maybe Ed was pissed because Al and Sammy were so willing to bury the hatchet last year and appeared to "reconnect" rather well. According to Sam's unpublished book, Sam and Al were ready to come to blows at one point. My theory goes (and it might be a stretch) that Ed stepped in way back in 1996 and stuck up for Al, and now is pissed because Al and Sam extended olive branches towards each other.

The backbone of this theory is also dependent on anyone believing that Ed has borderline personality disorders and is disfunctional alcoholic...a bad combo, even with family...or should I say especially with familY!?!
