No band has made more of an impact in my life than the mighty Van Halen, so their "progression" these last couple years has been depressing to say the least. The main reason I'm posting is because I was scanning the top-selling artist page on RIAA.com and just two years ago, Van Halen was number 10, beating out Michael Jackson, Madonna, Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston, Elvis, and AC/DC. AC/DC's sales sky rocketed to a mammoth 63 million!!!!! They are now the number nine selling artist in the US! Van Halen were only a couple million behind Aeroshit and Pud Floyd, as well. Now ALL those bands have surpassed the mighty Van Halen's sales and Aeroshit and Pud Floyd's lead has increased. Van Halen is at a dead stand-still, both in sales and status. I realize that once VH gets going again(if they ever get going), then the sales of the new album will see platinum and a lot of their back catalog's sales will (hopefully) be updated. Some of their sales haven't been updated in like ten years, so they're due for an update. I hate to use sales like that, but it just shows our boys have slipped the last couple years and have got a lot of work to do to regain their status. Here's hoping and, believe it or not, I'm still optimistic.

I feel your pain . I used to gloat about how succesful my boys have been but as of late they are taking a back seat to Aeroshit . I never thought I'd see the day that would happen . The older Aerosmith gets , the harder they work . I am starting to respect them more and more . The same can't be said about our boys . I'm sorry but lots of bands have families and responsibilities but this one album out every three to four years is a bit ridiculous . Let's get a move on and say something .

I don't know that I would say Aerosmith is working any harder than ever before.
Let's see, I don't have Nine Lives in front of me, but I think it was 6 years between studio albums with only two "original" soundtrack songs between the two, one of which wasn't even written by them.
I don't call that working hard. That's called hardly working "Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Stuff No More , Aerosmith is constantly in the news and limelight whereas with VH you could hear a pin drop . They have great PR skills too . VH needs their manager . They brought the most attention to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well . Thatls all one heard about . I hate to say it but our boys have some catching up to do and of all bands ... Aerosmith .

Sad but true.
The silence is ridiculous and not professionel in many ways.
1)
I wonder that mike was signed by yamaha for endorsing the new bass-guitar.
Endorsing a guitar with this "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS" aproach ( NO Press, NO Concert, NO CD, just some NAMM - show pics)?

2)
If Edie is that creative as he states after getting sober
- writing one song in a view minutes -
why does the band only puts out one album every three to four years ?
3)
There has never been a major act like VH with such a bad managment in public relations.
It is obvious after 1 1/2 year that the silence isnīt part of a big masterplan,
itīs simple a fiasco....

i'll tell ya, TWILY should have been the first single off of III too. They blew that one - now they'll never be able to use it because its all over the internet.

by the way, aerosmith will never be the same caliber as van halen in my mind - and that's all that matters to me. who gives a shit how much aero. is on tv/in the magazines, etc.
having said that, its really frustrating that we haven't heard anything from the band in a while. i mean, its been 6 years since they put out a quality album - 1995's Balance.ed(to dave): "you ever speak to me like that again, you better be wearing a cup."<br /><br />al: "and we don't mean no coffee cup, motherfucker!"

Well, I'll bet that if TWILY was released, that Gary would still be with VH. Ed's guitar work on that song was very strong. It would have been successful b/c it was a Pop-Rock song similar to Dance the Night Away. I'll also say that Aerosmith really works at being in the public eye. People like their music, and yes they still can rock. Joe Perry still can play.
later.
