It's been said that Dave & Sammy never shared the stage together, but Van Halen toured with Montrose and Journey back in '78. Was Sammy with Montrose then or had he left the band by then?

I could be wrong, But I was under the impression Sam was with MOntrose for two albums , the first in 1973 I believe...back then they cranked albums out more than today.

Sammy must have left Montrose around 76 or so. I saw him live in 79 at the Texas Jam and he already had at least 2 solo albums out. I think they were Danger Zone and Street Machine. Wasn't into him too much at the time his show got me interested.

Sammy was definitely out of Montrose by '78.

Yeah, his first solo album was released in 1976.

I think from reading somewhere in an interview that Sammy solo played at the same concert as Van Halen in '79 at Anaheim Stadium? They hired professional parachutest to jump out of a plane over the stadium and land on the stage and then the boys came out in the same gear and made history. sammyy was one of the opening acts for van halen once. 79 sounds right. i read it somewhere either insider or a magazine, talking about sammyy if he had ever run into dave before or anything, that came up
