After reading Gary's recent interview, it is obvious that the split between he and the band definitely was amicable. Gary has been incredibly busy in the last year with a movie, a theater performance and a new solo album. Any comments that maybe VH asks Gary if he'd open for them during their tour? Be great exposure for Gary's solo project to get off the ground. I don't think it will happen, but it's an interesting ponderance. Some of these threads have gotten stale, so I'm trying a new topic I haven't seen here before.

I don't think any band is going to fare very well opening for Van Halen this time around. Not that they'll get abused, but people are going to be too jacked up for the headliners to give any attention to the opening band. And I don't think that Eddie would want to put Gary through that. Plus, Gary has probably seen enough of Van Halen fans to last him a lifetime. I'm sure he'd rather not have to face the people he tried so hard to win over a couple of years ago.

Good thought, but I'd have to go with Glenn on this one. I dont think this would be a good idea for Gary. I think people will ignore the opening band anyway...

Those are actually my thoughts too. Just trying to dream up a new topic. I would bet Gary will stay in the east coast area where his support is. I am anticipating what he has to offer as well as the new VH stuff.

I can't see any big name established acts opening up for them either.

I believe that you will get either a top local band from that particular city or an unknown like Private Life was during the 0u812 tour.

I'm sure ther would be a tremendous amount of interest from many "big name" bands to open for them with the exposue that they would get, but I would bet that it will be what I said, a local band or unknown.

Not a good idea. I can't think of too many bands that would want that unenviable postion. I say let VH be VH and let Gary be Gary.

At least this time Gary wouldn't have to worry about the fans booing him off stage because they don't accept him in Van Halen.

Booing him off stage because they don't want to wait through an opening act, yes.

Honestly, I only paid attention to the opening band at any of the concerts I've been to when it was a recognizable name, like the one where Days of the New/Jerry Cantrell opened. This tour is definitely a kiss of death for the opening act.

I like opening bands so the fan gets more for their money. But, if VH doesn't have a opening band on this tour fine. They just better play a 4 hour concert!Peace out.

Nice wishful thinking, but the only way we are going to get a 4 hour set out of them is if Bruce Springsteen is their lead singer.

Nothing against Bruce, but I'll settle for 2 1/2 to 3 hours of the Mighty Van HALEN
