First off, lemme start this off with:
This is my first post, but I've been lurking for over a year now.....
(Don't ya just love that first liner?)
Anyway, I can't believe I forgot about this until now. I went to this bar/club on Monday. Chicks dancin on the floor and whatnot. Aww yeah. Anyway. You know the beginning of Ain't Talkin Bout Love where Eddie starts playing, before Al joins in? That part just became a dance mix. I was like.....good Lord!!!! That riff was getting repeating over and over again with a techno beat. It was uncool!CHICAGO WHITE SOX - 2005 WORLD CHAMPIONS
The Chicago White Sox (1901-present) - The Original SOX - Proof
The Boston Americans (1901)
The Boston Somersets (1902)
The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof
The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.
The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

I've probably heard all those versions when I collected stuff for Van Halen tribute radio. You definately have to have a taste for that stuff.

I heard one a few years ago called "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Dub". Kinda sucked, but I remember a video for it.
"You gotta do me a favor and let these (people) have a good time, alright? A little bit of (vulgar term for breast) and their hands in the air ain't gonna hurt anybody" - Nikki Sixx
"Van Halen is 'Get the fuck off the sidewalk if ya don't like our drivin' kinda music!" - David Lee Roth
"We get to the hotel, there's people partyin' in the parking lot, people gettin' down in the elevator, wow! I swear to God I had this one chick, this chick was poundin' on my door, she was kickin' and screamin' at my door 'til about 6:30 this morning. Finally, I just said, 'Fuck it!' and let her out of my room!" - David Lee Roth

At my Evil Prom Of Doom they played the intro drums to Jamie's Cryin' in some (c)rap song.
That really set me off as an insult to VH, especially since Ed had made his cancer statement earlier in the day

http://sunsetsky.fromru.com/bio/bands/apollo/
i guess u mean this one by apollo440?
i actually discovered the real vh-version thru their cover. i remember, woaaaw, this guitar riff is a-m-a-z-i-n-g, just like when i heart <Beat if> for the first time ... sure enough it was EVH
the apollo440 cover was played a lot in sport-footage
the guitar player of apollo440 is a really big fan of EVH
cheers,
SToRMdave, we'd like to go upstairs, the two of us, with you ...

i'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned this...somebody (I forget who ) asked Ed if he had heard it and what he thought, Ed replied he didn't care as long as they received royalties.. but then Gary spoke up, said they loved it, and Van Halen was gonna take a new techno direction (he was joking of course )

That loser rap act from the late 80's, 2 Live Crew, also sampled the intro of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" ro4 a song too.

Dude don't be so harsh - that was probably Tone Loc's "Wild Thang" which happens to be a classic rap track. When I say classic, I mean classic. This is far from the "Stairway to Heaven" of rap but Van Halen should still feel priveledged none the less for Tone Loc to honor them with a 3 second drum sample and 1.5 second guitar sample.
