oh my. The part with Mike having Sam's number tattooed on his arm ALWAYS makes me chuckle. That is one funny book.
The pessimist says the cup is half empty. The optimist says it's half full. The pragmatist says its liquid contents are at 50% capacity. The ironist says its half full of air. The plumber says the cup must be leaking. George Carlin says the cup is too big. The Starbucks employee says its so you have room for cream. The conspiracy theorist says aliens took the other half. The baseball player says his cup is definitely full. MacGuyver says he can build a powerful explosive with it. The psychoanalyst says the cup is your mother. The punk sitting next to you also says the cup is your mother. The romance novelist says the cup is a willing receptacle to the wild gushing torrents of pure passion from the hard chiseled urn. The zen master says There is no cup. Pamela Anderson says her cups are definitely full. Me? Refill!

And yes lance, definitely post those e-mail exchanges with Brad if you can. That would be a riot! "One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne
"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello
"There is no heir to the throne of Eddie Van Halen. Nobody sits on that throne. Nobody takes that throne. Here's why it's different with Eddie: when a great guitar player passes, you just move on to another, right? But in this case, Eddie wasn't just a 'guitar player'. We're talking about a guy who changed culture and how we play guitar. He was like an alien coming in and fucking everything up so much that even the legends beforehand are like, 'Okay .. what is happening here? What sorcery is this?'" -Nuno Bettencourt

I'm interested now to hear whether they are indeed pissed at the publication of this book. Seeing as though it falls under satire, I don't think there is anything legally they can do to stop its publication and sale.

But I'm sure he said something that we'll get a laugh over!
Lance said he kept all the emails and that they were funny(if you're on OUR side of the fence that is!)

Great book Lance!!!!! "I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone
"Van Halen is definitely a ladies band, and I´ve got the Polaroids to prove it". - David Lee Roth
WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.

Brad did, in fact, send me several messages stating his displeasure with the way the band was represented in the book. And although I have completely lost all respect for him following his latest public relations snafu, I don't think I should post his e-mails on this or any other message board. I'm sure he didn't intend for his e-mails to be viewed publicly and I, at the very least, have to respect his wishes.
However, the essence of his comments was that the book was too harsh on the band and that Van Halen fans would not find it funny. He also suggested that the humor was cruel and hit "below the belt".
While I completely disagreed with Brad's stance, his communications were always polite. Had they been otherwise, I might be tempted to post them.
There was one issue, however, that still bothers me. Brad requested several copies of the book to give to the band members. He promised to contact me and let me know what the response was. He never did. Ah well, I guess he was too busy creating new content for VH's official web site (insert rim shot here).
For those that read a recent rant of mine in which I promised to supply the Bradman transcripts "upon request" - I apologize. I was lit to the gills on cheap gin when I wrote that typo-laden diatribe. Brad may be a chump but I still feel obligated to keep private communications private. I hope ya'll understand.

That is most kind of ya Lance. Ya funny how Brad never gave any feedback from the band, maybe they actually laughed at it.... well maybe not.
