The Sam and Dave tour was a one time shot. Now, Sam and Dave are trying desperately to keep up the fading publicity that they accumulated during the summer. Sammy will be hanging out with Rip Torn on Hollywood Squares in October and Dave is talking with Carson Daly. I think everyone should wait for a guest vocalist album featuring Alex and Eddie. Sorry Mike, Sam and Dave. Think about it. If either Dave or Sam were in negotiations for one of the biggest reunions in rock history, would they need to lower themselves to the PR embarrassments of late? These seem like desperate men trying to gather attention before they head out to pasture. If a reunion announcement was coming they would also be legally bound to keep their mouths shut. I'm thinking that Sam and Dave came together on the summer tour knowing that they will never be in VH again and saw an opportunity for a final run at the retirement funds. Mike jumped aboard because Eddie is playing bass. "In the left square, direct from Cabo Wabo ,the red rocker, Sammy Hagar."
Ouch. I'm sure Eddie isn't feeling as badly about VH3 now.

I respectfully disagree. I believe the saying that no publicity is bad publicity. Dave and Sam staying in the public eye is a good thing regardless of which one (if either) re-joins Van Halen. And if one is chosen over the other, you'd be crazy to think that the other one won't be out there making himself seen to ride the wave of momentum created by that reunion.

I agree on the guest vocalist album - always have. Either a Sam or Dave reunion seems past it's use by date to me now.

Bullshit...As usual, total bullshit.
As far as Dave goes, he did what any other rock star trying to promote something-GET THE WORD OUT. He's still touring & given today's state of rock, it's refreshing to know you can still go out there & hear some graet "REAL" music.
Sam: Do you really think he gives a shit what the press writes about him. He's been ripped up by them way before he got together w/ VH. Sam, my friend, has enough friends and fans to do as he pleases. Dave has re-establihed his ability to do what he's always done best---VH. Other than that, and he knows it, there's no prayer for him. Sam has plenty to do, although I do agree that he wants back into VH.

I, for one, can't wait to see Sam on HS.
I think it will be hilarious.
Dave should do it, but I think his newfound "godlike" attitude will keep him from doing anything that would risk his superiority complex.
Sorry, just a little pissed that he never stepped foot onto a stage with Sammy over the last three months. Hell, he just may have been able to put the Sam versus Dave debate to bed in his favor. Plus, it would have been really cool, something I thought Dave knew how to do. 'Course, maybe he's holding out for Survivor?

What else can they do?

Davidly just toured the VH classics - how could he top that now? Wait another year and do the setlist again? ...polka style, maybe? Do more random coke videos?

SammyHa's probably gonna be a rich fucker no matter what he does... but he also jams with Mike Anthony. He seems to have a slightly brighter future, despite being a bit older than Davidly.

Maybe Ed and Al have made the correct choice to bow out (just slightly) more gracefully.

But prove me wrong, guys! Please!

Why can't Dave write a hit anymore ? That dude keeps beating those old Vh standards to death.

get a hit already. From this millenium. Please.

I too am pissed that Dave and Sammy never shared the stage and I have a feeling Sammy would have been fine with that.

Watching Dave keep the triplets backstage and never letting them get one second of fan appreciation at the Universal City show just reinforced what a control freak and spotlight hog he is.

Sammy was 180 degrees opposite, he had fans all over the place and the rules were relaxed enough to let celebratory drunken fans take the mic for a few lines. You didn't have to be famous to get some time with sammy, you just had to be a fan.

The only way to get anywhere near Dave was to be an employee, and even then he was stingy with the stage.

At some point I think many of you will see the falicy in the bashing and the false pedestals you people are putting Dave and Sam on.

Take a reality break from fanaticism for one moment... please?

Neither Dave and Sam are current members of the Super-Group Van Halen.

Each are solo artists doing what they choose to do as performers THAT THE CURRENT ROCK ENTERTAINMENT MARKET WILL AFFORD THEM.

Nothing more, nothing less. In their present state neither can fill a stadium on their own. What we've got is as good as it gets if you take the reality of where Sam and Dave are in and leave the fucking past where it is... in the damn history books.

Ok now y'all can return to fantasy island and your death grip on the past...

And to take it a step further, Zahoo, Van Halen is far from a 'supergroup' these days. It's pathetic that this crap has drug out so long. They could definitely write the book, 'How to Destroy Your Band and Fanbase in 3 Easy Steps.' At this point I wouldn't care if they trotted the great David Hasslehoff (he's very big in Germany you know) if it meant new music was coming out.

(kidding about the Hasslehoff thing of course. )

Good lord man, give it a fuckin rest! The bashing here is getting disgusting. Same old regurgitated bullshit. "Oh.....Sammy is so great he's one of us man, oh and that asshole Roth won't let us onstage not to mention the triplets." Who gives a fuck about the triplets. Fan appreciation for the triplets? I don't think anybody would even know who the fuck they were if they were trotted out on stage. You were concerned with the triplets getting on stage? That is pathetic. You were really disappointed that drunk idiots were not up there butchering Dave era VH songs? Again pathetic. Let's make this an equal opportunity bash thread shall we? Why can't Sam write a hit anymore? That dude keeps beating those old Montrose and Van Hagar tunes to death.

Get a hit already. From this millenium. Please.
