I had the best opportunity to meet Ed.

To make a long story short, I was really early for Ed and Gary @ the Hard Rock in Boston there were 5 of us in line (I wonder if the other 4 post here?) anyway, Ed walks around the corner coming right at us, all by himself. He walks right up to us, stops, none of us said anything so he went inside, and that was it

Well I had a dream I met Sam once...

I'd driven up to a major city to catch them in concert, and we stayed at a hotel next to the venue. Anyways I vaguely remember them coming out with Sam, Ed playing a Black wolf, and they opened with Judgement Day followed by Somebody Get Me a Doctor. THEN I FELL ASLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SHOW! (Don't ask) When I woke up everyone was leaving the show, and I was VERY pissed. Anyways we get back to the hotel and there is a tiki bar down outside the lobby. I go to have a seat and Sam is next to me at the bar havin' a
drink. He just says, "they left me". And I woke up. It was one of the wierdest dreams ever.

Crazy.

I met Ed Al and mike and WACF and MS meet and greats and the white hall hotel in Houston.

The second time we went up to the hotel bar and Dave and a chick were talking at the bar (dave had zero voice left) we sat at a very close table and kind acted cool but tried to listen, there was one body guard that would stop anyone who got near unless dave nodded his head. He let a couple chicks thru and then an ugly one approached and the guy was like sorry maam.

Dave bumbed a cig from my friend for the chick he was with and then we ran out of money and the bartender made us leave.

I have met all the members of Van Halen.

Besides NAMM where I have talked to Eddie a few times, Al was there a few times (though none lately), Micheal is always there and Sammy used to be at Washburn a lot.

Also met Sammy a lot of times during his post-VH days. Las Vegas at the old Aladdin hotel for "Marching To Mars". Also, Sammy has been at some fights at the MGM in vegas and I have run into him there.

When the VHIII tour hit Vegas I drove there and Van Halen were mainstays at the Hard Rock Hotel. First ran into Alex when I walked in to the lobby. Michael was with his family and took them to Circus Circus. Eddie arrived seperately from Valerie, Wolfgang and his Nanny. Eddie played blackjack all night after each show. They played 2 nights there at "The Joint". Eddie signed autographs for me and my buddies when he was boarding his limo to the airport.

What was Dave like? My Dad met him and got me a personally autographed copy of EEAS just for me in 1986, with a personal inscription . My Dad said that he was completely different from his stage persona. Is that true?

I met Dave in the mid 90's when he was doing the Vegas show. He wasn't too into signing Van Halen memorabilia. Nice guy though.

I met Ed,Al,Mike & Garry at an instore appearance at HMV Records in Sydney on the 3 tour.

I got to shake hands with them all and get my Van Halen III CD signed.

Haven't met Sam or Dave though...

Thanks for answering. My Dad had connections and knew a Denver DJ who hooked him up. Since my "Conservative Dad" absolutely dug Halen for the fun of their music. My Dad said that at the time Dave was just the total opposite of his VH stage schitick. He said that he(Dave) said shit like the following:

"Does Junior play football? I'd be happy to sign this for the newer generation. What's your son's name? Do you ever get bored with living the corporate life?" Etc. When my Dad told me what a nice and appreciative guy that DLR was, I could not help becoming an eventual Rothtard.

you was there me too [img]smile.gif[/img] i was the nut that got on stage with Ed and Gary during the time WAAF dude said no to the picture that I ask to be taking. Gary was the one that said to come up anyway here the url of that day VHStrungout Gallery I also met them at Great Woods 2nd nite after which was pretty cool if you see the picture of Ed and me with a guitar in his hand that was a gift I gave him after the show and he also gave me one of his guitar from his private stock from Peavey old story but very true [img]smile.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

That's cool...I was at the same signing at HMV in Sydney!!

There was a record company girl writing names on pieces of paper and the idea was that they'd follow you and your CD along the desk with the band. I was talking to Mikey but my piece of paper had made it to Eddie and he was busy going "who's Greg, where's Greg?" Wandered down n shook his hand and was completely gobsmacked. All I could say was 'Dude you are the reason I play guitar'....weak man!

On the vh III tour, I met the whole band. A buddy and I stayed at the same hotel. We hung out withe Mike by the pool for hours and talked. I have never met anyone, star or not a star who was as nice as Mike. And oddly enough, he spoke very openly about Dave, Sammy, and even Gary. You could tell that he liked Gary a lot, but I somehow could sense that he wasn't quite happy with having him in the band. Certain things he said and the way he said them. I met the rest of the gang at the gig. Mike dedicated a song to us. We got front row seats, and Eddie gave me a guitar pick, and gave me a smoke. Which to this day, I have never smoked. Eddie was very nice, but incredibly shy, almost to a fault. But during the show Eddie would come over to us and ham it up, during his guitar solo he came over and did the soul hand shake with me, and it was amazing. The show was amazing, and was obviously one of the best and greatest times ever for myself. My buddy and I drove 6 hours home that night, and were so pumped that we could have done it all over again without any sleep. And believe me, within the 48 hours we were there, we may have sleeped 5. Too cool!!!!!!

I've met the band... only in my dreams at night, usually a concert where I'm playing guitar along with EVH and the band is praising my ability to keep up with EVH. Of course, my modesty kicks in and I just shrug the accolades off just like EVH.
