Wouldn't it be dumb not to publicize for longer?

Call me stupid, but rumors suggesting a new album in March would not leave much time to publicize a much-awaited album to the general public. Now, if it were me, and I knew that VH was ready to get the ball rolling (that actually may be the problem by the way) I would publicize the album date WAY THE HELL ahead of time so EVERYBODY knew when it was coming out and they could get their teeny bopper or old fat asses down to the Best Buy and pick up a copy of the new album. They can't expect to sell very much on short notice. With WB probably putting ass loads of $$$$ into this, they are gonna want to see the maximum return in their investment.
Therefore, I think that an announcement may come soon, but don't expect an album til the summer in order for WB to let everybody know that the Diamond one is back.
I just don't think March is enough warning to get everybody off their asses. Then again, I have been wrong before.

I don't know about this one. I think if they OVERhype the thing, people will just get sick of hearing about it. If the announcement is the media spectacle that many are expecting, I would think that a SHORT period of time from announcement to release may actually be a better idea. That way, people won't have time to think about it; they'll just react to it and run to the store.

Plus, how long CAN you promote a CD? I mean, advertising isn't cheap, and the record-buying public is fickle. I imagine the VH release will be one swift and efficient press maneuver, and NOT some long, drawn-out process. After all, if you think about it, they've already been getting some GREAT publicity in the form of internet rumors, which have spread to radio stations everywhere.

Just my thoughts....rendered as simply another point of view.

And that usually is only a week before the album hits.

Actually most of the time the single are released 3-5 weeks before the album comes out.
