Who the hell is gonna play Van Halen's new video if/when they make one? The only show I can think of is VH1's "Rockshow". Since MTV doesn't really play videos much, and when they do....(don't even get me started). I'm wondering if it would even be worth it to make one if they're not going to get any exposure out of it.

I've heard about the Much Music channel in Canada(?) and I think we really need someone in the States to step up and put together a good music channel to compete with MTV and VH1. I don't even consider MTV to be "Music Television", actually. VH1 has a decent format, I think. They don't always show videos, but at least everything on there is MUSIC related!

It's just kind of frustrating to think that NO MATTER HOW GOOD the new single and video might be, it just won't get heavy rotation on the "music" channels we currently have, unless hard rock becomes trendy again (which I could give a shit if it does or not).

I think they'll sell a ton of albums even without a video, though I'd definitely like to see one.

eMpTV will show it, especially if it's with Dave. They'd "jump" right on the VH bandwagon believe me! No pun intended of course.

Well, you guys may be right about MTV jumping at the chance to play a new VH video. Assuming they aren't pissed at Ed for calling them and bitching them out for showing those "welcome back" segments in '96.

The question then becomes: WHEN would they play it? With all the other crap they have on that channel, when do they even show videos? Maybe they'll squeeze them into their 2:30-3:30 a.m. block of time when they actually show videos!

MTV won't give a new VH video regular airplay. It doesn't fit their format anymore. Look at Bon Jovi-- he made a total effort to create the most "pop" sounding song his 80s ass was capable of, and it gets occasional play only. If VH comes out with something, and it sounds "pop", it'll be on VH1 with the same regularity as Bon Jovi. Just the sad facts.

Unless VH revolutionizes the sound of rock again, which I believe to be improbable. But I hope Ed and the boys prove me wrong.

Brett is 100% right. MTV is a whore. They'll show the video.

One day your the goat the next day your the hero. That's MTV's way of showing "loyalty" to artists that are on the channel. It's all aboutthe almighty DOLLAR with MTV, not the integrity of talent of the artists.

And while we're on the subject of "Has Been's" Or "Where are they now" Does anyone (including MTV) honestly think that Ricky Martin, Christina Agularia, and N'Sync are gonna be remembered 10 years from now?...........HELL NO. Christina who? Where has she been!?!.....

So in MTV's eyes I guess their "heros" they kiss ass to today, will be the new "goats" of tomorrow!

Once again I repeat: FUCK MTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think MTV will play VH's video, but I could be wrong, and I really don't care, because I don't watch MTV. I don't watch VH1, either.

I do, however, spend a lot of time on the Internet. This video will be up for download everywhere we are! Granted, that kind of exposure isn't as good as something getting shoved down your throat from the TV screen, but I believe that computers are taking the place of TV and the Net is taking the place of cable.

MTV, once a place for bands to get exposure to the masses, has been supplanted by Internet radio, MP3 search engines, and Napster. I think MTV has outlived its purpose, which is why they are trying to roll with the changes and play fewer music videos, because, let's face it, we don't need a music video channel anymore. I sure as heck don't.

MTV, not VH, are the ones who are dead.

well, as a canuck, let me say that much music isn't all it's cracked up to be. but before i say that, it's still way better than mtv. anyway, yeah, much plays music, and sometimes it's good, but you can only take so much of those retards hanging from those strings before you'd rather watch infomercials. but they still have music as their main focus.

Fuck MTV! They really have squandered their chance. VH1 really concentrates on MUSIC and it's roots. Give it to them.
