I couldn't think of a good title for this.
Who are some of your favorite guitar players that don't usually get mentioned along with the typical group of guitar heroes (EVH, SRV, Clapton, Vai, Hendrix, Lynch, etc.)?
Some of my favorites are:
Elliot Easton of the Cars
Joe Walsh & Don Felder of the Eagles
Andy Summers of the Police
John Sykes of Whitesnake/Blue Murder
Frank Hannon of Tesla
Kevin Eubanks
George Benson
Neal Schon of Journey
Ty Tabor of King's X
Chris DeGarmo of Queensryche
Warren DeMartini of Ratt
Chris Duarte

I'd pretty much agree with all of those. Especially DeGarmo, DeMartini & Ty Tabor, three of the most grossly underrated rock guitarists on the planet.
I'd also add:
Chris DeGarmo AND Michael Wilton
Andy Timmons
Criss Oliva
Allan Holdsworth
Shawn Lane
Wes Montgomery
Jerry Douglas
Alex Skolnick
Jimmy Herring
Lee Ritenour
Larry Carlton
Phil Keaggy
Doyle Dykes
Steve Gaines
Vinnie Moore
Tony MacAlpine
Michael Lee Firkins
Richard Leo Johnson
I could probably name about 50 more, but those are the ones who immediately spring to mind.

I could rehash a lot of the guys mentioned here, but we all know that there are some really underrated guitar players out there.
As far as under appreciated goes, I would have to say that it's me when I play at home. The wife and the boy don't appreciate that at all. :irked
I bet that all the guys mentioned above get the same thing at home!

Oh, cool to see Jimmy Herrings name pop up. I met him when he his old band Aquarium Rescue Unit was together...used to love them. Real down to earth nice guy who didn't know what to do and got kinda shy when I told him he was a big influence.
