If it wasn't for Eddie, Steve Vai wouldn't be as well known as he is today. Remember he used to write transripts of Edward's music in Guitar Player magazine. Oh and learn how to fuckin' spell you retard!!!!!

Granted Steve Morse is a great guitar player but his style is completely different. So how can you compare Steve against Edward. You must be the idiot that posted about Ed's health the other night. Talk about someone with a lot of class.

Steve Morse needs to stop pretending to be Ritchie Blackmore or Kerry Livgren and get his own goddamn band if he's so fucking good.

FORD he does have his own band. The Steve Morse Band. He also was the leader of The Dixie Dregs or The Dregs. I think the only reason he joined Deep Purple is the rest of the guys in Purple pushed Blackmore out and Steve just happened to be available to take his slot. Glover, Lord, Paice and Gillan wanted to go in another direction and Ritchie didn't. I know, I feel the same way, without Blackmore it really doesn't sound like vintage Purple. It's like taking Eddie out of VH and replacing him with Vito Bratta.

This is the information that I found years back when they were recording Perpendicular (spelling?) Also, I spoke with Ed Janx face to face who you know is a major contributor from the USA to the Highway Star website. I worked at the same facility that he worked at and he also pretty much confirmed what I said above. Hell he hung out with Gillan one night and talked about Ritchie and how much they disliked one another. Ed and I talked about classic VH and he said that they were his favorite band back in the early 80's.

In 1993 Deep purple brought Ian Gillan back against the wishes of Blackmore (who took a lot of money to make a solo album as a sweetener). They recorded an album (in different studios) and went out on tour in Europe. Two weeks before the end of that tour Blackmore handed in his notice, much to the surprise of the rest of them who had a Japanese tour booked. The Japanese tour promoter told them they would never play in Japan again unless the fulfilled their obligations with either Jeff Beck or Joe Satriani. Beck said no, Satch said yes and stayed with them for about 6 months until contractual obligations forced him to record a solo album (he'd spent the advance).

The remainder of Deep Purple wrote down lists of who they would like to work with and Steve Morse was the only one they all agreed on. He joined Purple about a year after Blackmore left.

Blackmore wasn't forced out, he threw one too many tantrums and then ran off with a blonde chick half his age to play silly folk songs.

I'm sure Ed Janx would tell you a smilar story.
