I smell serious BS and i think the guy is pulling us but check out the latest on VH1 message board...
Eric Brittingham to replace Anthony
Things are stirring at 5150, legendary bassist Eric Brittingham has been rehersing with the VH brothers and even laying down new material. Eric has been friends with Eddie for years and was the obvious replacement for Mike Anthony who left the band last week.
VH are still to decide on who will be the bands new singer

First, It's bullshit. Why post a "Picture of the Week" on the official website, AT A SAM GIG. if this was true.
Second, THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE MIGHTY MICHAEL ANTHONY. Period.WHAT IS UNDERSTOOD NEED NOT BE DISCUSSED!

haha- he looks like a perfect replacement!
we could get him to replace mike, chris cornell to replace dave/sam, maybe the former guitarist of rage against the machine to replace eddie, and mike portnoy to replace Al- then you would have some REAL van halen, man!

I doubt this is the case unless the bros have decided not to at least something with Sammy, then I could see Mike moving on. I could also see Eddie wanting to play with a different bass player to see where it might take their sound instumentally.
Having said that, Michael Anthony is as much the heart and soul of everything that made Van Halen what it is to us as anyone in the band. He was more than willing to hold down the fort with Al, and stay out of the way musically, to let Eddie do what it is he does, and not alot of bass players would ever be so unselfish. I really feel in my heart that Mike gets off listening to Eddie rip as much as any fan in the world does, and even better, he gets to jam with him every live show and every album.
Mike probably has enough money to never have to do anything musically he doesn't want to, and if he has chosen to make Planet US his musical future, all we can do is get behind him, and wish him the best.
I doubt this is the case, but it does make for some thought provoking discussion. I've neve heard this Brittingham dude play, but if anyone knows who he's played with, please post it.John 3:16, Can You Dig It?
People, the 6 wings of the Mighty Van Halen will fly again! Can You Dig It?
You gotta give more than you take! Can You Dig it?
And underneath the arch, it turned into a march,
and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!
We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

Guys/Gals, I'm gonna paste what I posted at the rumor mill for some further discussion, because I think it's that important:
I swear to everyone on this board, that if Mike is out, I'm done as a VH fan. I will fucking burn every CD they ever made and change the channel if I hear their music.
THE one staple in VH has always been Mike.
For all those who saw this summers tour, did you see the crowd reaction when he came out? It was bigger than Sam & Dave's.
I hope this is only a rumor, because I'm done if it isn't, and Brett you should close this board as well.WHAT IS UNDERSTOOD NEED NOT BE DISCUSSED!

Eric Brittingham??? "Legendary"???
How "legendary" can you be if you were in Cinderella??? I mean, I find them a decent enough band. I can stomach their music, and even think that "Still Climbing" was their best (but underrated) album. But to label one, or even all, of their members as "legendary"?
That's hilarious.
Just think...one day, a long, long time from now, even someone like Britney will be given the "legendary" label. Eesh."Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."
"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

I hope to god this is a bunch of crap. Eric Brittingham in Van halen? Give me a break. Actually, i wouldnt be suprised if it did happen though, since the brothers have such shitty taste in replacements.
Didnt Eddie want to kick Mike out at one time in the 90's and get Billy Sheehan on bass?

Eric Brittingham? No offense to him but he couldn't hold Mike's jockstrap. Or cup for that matter.

VH as we once knew it is over. This is going to be an Eddie/Alex project with guest musicians.
