For years I have been hearing all kinds of sh*t about Dave's voice getting worse and worse, him forgetting lyrics etc.

I just checked www.diamonddavidleeroth.com, and saw the live version of D.O.A from the '02 tour can be downloeaded. I was afraid, because of all the rumours, but I downloaded it anyway. Then I watched it and couldn't believe my eyes and EARS!
It's much better than I expected. He remembers all of the lyrics and doesn't sing any worse than he used to, he finds the key most of the time. I mean, it's not perfect singing, but when was it? I have the 'Dressed To Kill' bootleg (from '77) and he only remembers every 4th line in the song! And at the US festival '83 there are a few songs that are un-enjoyable because of him being out of key most of the time.

All in all: Judging from this one video (and I know it's a very little amount of stuff to judge from, but) his performance did NOT deteriorate vocally and lyrically. He looks a bit tired, though

I saw Dave on the Sam/Dave tour in Dallas and it was disappointing. It felt (and still does watching the video) like a VH tribute band. Frankly, I'd rather spend my money on the Atomic Punks (who rock, by the way) than on Dave.

Dave should have mixed in more of his solo material. I found the whole Dave scene depressing, which is a bummer because I wanted it to be so great.

Well, I saw Dave in the first show of the tour last year (Cleveland) and he flat out ROCKED!!
From start to finish - sounded great!! Of course, he can't hit the screams like he used to, but as the tour went on, he seemed to be getting better and better.

He's never been known to have a great voice and has definately lost a bit over the years - but, who hasn't??! I thought he rocked and put on a great show!! I never had seen VH with Dave live, and this was the next best thing.

People can call it a tribute band all they want, but Brian plays guitar lick for lick as good as Eddie (at least on the VH songs). Ray definately holds his own on the drums.

From what I saw on the Sam/Dave tour, Dave sings as well as he always did on tour, although it sounds like he has more frequent "off nights" than before. It's his stage presence that is lacking now IMO.

I think 95% of people feel the same way, including me. That's why Dave is playing the size clubs he plays.

Which clubs are you referring too?? If you're referring to Turning Stone Casino, that he just booked, Sammy played the same club 2 years ago.

Hagar did play there on part of a 32 city tour 18 state tour. Sandwich between two equally large tours the year before and after. It is still to be determined if DLR ever plays there.

I thought dave was sounding more consistent than he used to. I have a video of the 6/25/02 LA concert and except for 2 songs he outright sounds awsome. No he can't do the screams, but he can still sing. He sang way worse at the US Festival, but it is still regarded as one of their best shows.

He knows he owns the back catalog and he is using it. I think hat is why Eddie gets so pissed when people want to hear his old stuff, cause Dave is so tied to it.

Musically they could continue with Dave, personally they can't. Same with the Red one.

</font>
Man Hawk, you must have been standing in the beer line since Sammy sang his Eagels song to miss out on Dave's performance, because the place was definatly more alive with Dave than with Sammy. A helluva a lot more people, and no one was sitting down the whole time Dave was up on stage. Quite a few (let me pull a number out of my ass) maybe 95% actually seemed to enjoy the show Dave put on. If so many people were dissappointed, then you'd think they would have stopped the singing and dancing in the isles, and maybe take a seat like they did during Sammy's show, or just flat out leave. I like both era's but it amazes me who you newbies to VH (Sammy era and beyond) distort the fact that Dave did a tremendous show. Personally, I paid to hear the old stuff from both, and I was fortunate to see Dave with VH as well as Sammy. This summer was an awesome show. Maybe you forgot how Sammy's mic kept going out, or the extensive feedback during Sammy's set? Like I said, must have been when you and half the theater left to get beer during Sammy's set... At least I SAT through Sammy's set with the other half.

I though Dave was magnificient at the Universal Ampitheater. I saw him perform both nights. I loved both nights.

I had a bit of a problem with Sammy's “Cabo Wabo” act. Maybe it's because I never drink...

I get high on music and sheer energy...

Roth live this past summer kicked ass. Vocally he was still there, but seemed a bit lost on a flat stage without risers to run up and jump off of.
The high note wasnt there nor the high kicks..
but Roth at 50% efficiency is still miles above and beyond anyone else.
Hagar's show was great also but a bit buffoonish.
The Wabo's are a tad generic for my taste and Hagar has let his looks go to the point of clownish.
The Tour was great and they both ( roth / hagar )
still kick ass David Lee Roth Online .com ( demo )

He did seem to do better with the screams on the Carson Daly performance. It still isn't nearly like it was in the good-ole days though. Nevertheless, he still put on a great show!!

Ralph of the Atomic Punks has the scream down pretty damn good!!
