The Me Wise Magic Response

I for one, like MOST in here, believe Dave is coming back. With that said, it remains to be seen what kind of response a new single will recieve.
While Me Wise Magic was a good single, I expect anything they release at this point to be as good or better due to what is at stake for them. Its pretty much now or never for them as far as regained popularity goes.
So the question I pose is three-fold (that makes me sound all scientific and stuff doesn't it?):
1) Will a new single recieve the same response as Me Wise Magic (i.e. better, the same, worse)?
2) Will a single that is equally as good as Me Wise Magic be enough for them to get back in the picture of today's top bands (commercially)?
3) Do you think anything other than a number 1-caliber single will just give them the "fleeting reunion" effect?

A new single will probably go to number 1 on mainstream rock.

I think itll do better than me wise magic for the fact that the last time it wasnt a permanant situation with the band

I think that Van Halen will become very popular again but never like they used to be b/c of the current prevalance of Boy bands and bullshit like that.

VH is gonna rock whether they have Dave or Ralph Nader at the helm!!!!!

Hell, a new single will probably DEBUT at #1 on the mainstream rock charts.

BUT, where will it end up on the combined chart? Hard to say, considering a lot of the numbers on that chart are dominated by rap and prefab pop music.

Whatever they put out I hope they get recognition and airplay. You know how the industry is right now with these gay boy bands and Brittany F*ckin Spears. Not to mention alternative and Rap(is crap)! Good rock and roll hasn't had decent airplay or recognition since 1992 came along and F*cked things up.(Seattle comes to mind)

I hope that they get their new video played. I only saw Without You played a few times.

I remember that all of the Balance video's except Amsterdam got a lot of play on Much Music though.

I think the response will be better, though cautious at first.

I'm not sure who posted this before, but I agree.... I think Van Halen will become much like the Stones. Not much in the way of sales or top hits with their newer albums, but KILLER money-making tours (which I will attend most faithfully).

The fact is, this IS (or hopefully will be) a reunion. Based on all the rumors I would guess that most will think it's a fleeting reunion. Where are the Eagles today? KISS? Fleetwood Mac? At least KISS put out a real album with new tracks, only to call it quits after their latest tour.

I hope VH (with Dave) can hold it together for a long time, even if it's just a tour every couple years.

BTW, I just wrapped MWM and CGTSNM around Panama and Unchained. Ahhh, that was good. I love napster .

van halen have never been a band that write music for top 10 sales...never have...never will. that said, the figures clearly show that van halen are a monster that don't need top ten sales as they are one of the biggest recording bands this planet has ever seen. all they have to do is produce material that we know these four individuals are capable of and watch everything else fall into place. can't wait!!
