Does Eddie smoke reefer?

One of the time I saw VH was in Little Rock Ar. I remeber hagar saying they didn't usually play places this small (10,000) seats. Anyway somewhere along in the line up many many joints were onstage( thrown up by the floor fans) and Sammy picks one up and lights it up! he goes to hand it to Eddie and Ed shakes his head no, no, no. This was in 92'.

i read an interview in which eddie said he was doing cocaine around the time of the 1984 album. i'm pretty sure he was smoking marijuana then.

maybe by 1992 he was trying to avoid going through all that again...

Its is common knowledge that Van Halen were heavily into cocaine and booze. EVH is a smoker, he must have tried the magic herb at one point or another. Some people dont experience the "calming effect" that pot is known for. In fact if your personality is predisposed to depression and paranoia then pot can be a pretty shitty experience. Long term alcohol (and cocaine) abuse does tend to make a person more "paranoid" and less likely to enjoy the effects of marijuana. I think Ed may fall into this category. Once you are in that mindset, only alcohol,sedatives, painkillers or anti-depressants will calm you, oh yeah, and of course there is the big "H" but you may as well be dead already if you want to walk that path..

I think Ed's personality doesnt lend itself to Pot. Simple as that.

It was the drug of choice at the time. In fact I recall a story about Dave and Ed being Coked off their face for Ed's wedding. As Ed said, its a good thing he didnt try heroin. At least we still have him around, albeit inactive.
