I would tend to agree that he's questionable as a solo artist. But, then again, I'm sure there are less deserving artists who are in. I think he's borderline. He's had hits in, what, 3 different decades? Yes, he's somewhat fading now, but he's been doing it successfully for a long, long time.

As a solo artist, Sam doesn't have a chance. I'm not slammin him but look at the facts. The Hall is about how influential the artist is or was. Montrose didn't do anything earth shattering nor did Sammy. Sure Sammy had some hits, actually only one really. But it's not about how many albums or tickets you sold. If that were the case, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Spice Girls etc. etc. will all have a shot. Sammy may get in with VH and even if he does, it will be on the coat tails of the original four.

Yeah...

I've known about it for some time now. I was going to post it here but decided not to simply because of all the negativity that it would probably stir.

I chimed in at sig #710. I always figured he deserved to be inducted for three reasons.

1) Talent.
Very few people in rock have the "triple threat" of singer, writer, guitarist, as Sammy does.

2) Earmark.

Sammy has had three solid landmarks in rock. One with Montrose. His solo career. Most of all, Van Halen.

3) Longevity.
Few artist has lasted as long as Sammy. Albeit, his tenure of recnt years has faded, everey year of his career was better that the last.

I doubt if he actuaslly makes it on his solo career. The RaR HoF is a joke anyway. Anyone who would induct Grand Funk Railroad (among VERY many others)but leave out...GOD so many...is fucked to begin with!

Sam will be inducted with Van Halen in 200?. As a solo artist, Sammy is good but I don't think he's hall of fame worthy. He does have longevity as stated earlier but he wasn't a 'solo sensation' like Michael Jackson. His solo work sold millions.
