Van Halen MP3's are not what they appear to be

So I bought this new computer....it has a CD Burner so I have been downloading a lot of crap off the internet and making my own CD's. I found this wwebsite called WWW.mp3zool.com and get this, I punch in Van Halen and about 12 songs comes up that you can download. But.....a couple of the songs I never had heard before. One was called Mach 2, another was called 13th hour and a couple of more. Imagine my excitement. So I download them. I was damn excited until I heard them..IT SUCKED!!!!! It was not Van Halen. So what I figured is that these bands are trying to get their music heard so they put it on these websites with another bands name knowing full well that wankers like me are going to listen to it. That is just wrong. Sorry for venting.

Kazaa.com is the same as morpheus and there is another site called limewire.com. I actually downloaded both kazaa and morpheus and after I installed morpheus kazaa would no longer work. It was strange and both programs have the exact same user interface with just the logos changed. Kinda strange. The site you mentioned after taking a better look at might be amatures and when you typed in Van Halen it found bands that are in the same "musical genre" but are unkowns. Anyway hope some of this helps.

How good and deep do these search engines go? I mean, I know it all depends on who puts the music out there to d'load, but generally speaking, can you find like old 80's hair bands on there...people like Loudness, Hurricane and stuff like that?

Yes Cabo you can find some good eighties bands there, I have been downloading Blue Murder songs, a good band with John Sykes (ex-Whitesnake) because I haven't found any of their albums in stores, you can also download video's. [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img]

Now that you have a burner; have you considered trading??? I started the same way you did; except I was using Napster. I then started trading. When I started I had about 20 boots. Now, 5 months later; I'm over 130. I've gotten everything I ever got off of napster x10. It's just something to consider!!!! You'll get far more that way than you will off of downloading.

phast - Kazaa and Morpheus are both based off the same source code - hence the same interface. Plus you'll notice users of both engines show up on either one.

In fact, the source of those programs showed up in the newspaper here the other day where they mentioned that was the place where most Napster people have gone to.

I do not have any bootleg VH to speak of and since some people here have mp3 we should get on Kazza or Morpheus and put all the vh boots in the sharing directory and share them. This would save alot of time if others have broadband. There is also a new format for compression that are .shn or shorten file format. It is lossless compression that I recently started to live concert tunes of Jam bands. The shows sound great straight off dat. It is just like being at a show. Just a thought

What you should do is go to www.van-halen.com . Now I have no reason to advertise them, but one thing they do have is something called "The Unlist," which is every Van Halen song that has been either played in concert, or done in demo form, but doesn't appear on an album. If the song ain't on that list, then it's not done by Van Halen. An example I can think of is something floating around called "Fresh," which is an instrumental VH fake.

Another thing I like to do when searching for live material is either typing in the title with "live" next to it, or just typing in a year such as 1981. By doing that, I found an entire concert in LA from 1981.
