Some investigating I've done has turned up the following info

E.L.V.H., Inc. CORPORATION CALIFORNIA applied (December 4, 2001) to register, as a trademark "VAN HALEN". Looks like it is filed, not yet approved. The details are below.

I'm not going to speculate, but here are some interesting things.

1. The trademark "Van Halen" is being applied for by, what it looks like, Edward Van Halen (E.L.V.H., Inc.).

2.The LAST time a formal trademark for "Van Halen" was applied for was June 3, 1980.

3. Might be related to the inactivity on their website. Looks like there is a possibility they may continue with the website.

It could be something as simple as them reaffirming the trademark and since the status of Van Halen is in flux it is being done under EVH - who knows. But it is interesting..........

definatley interesting AND solid information. maybe van halen is going to switch website providers??? i really don't know what to make of it, this could be something or it could be just another trademark. but it is weird doing it under eddie's intials, especially under his whole initials. thanks for the info, oh and speaking in lingo i can understand.

Looks like a trademark specifically related to the site somehow, to me. Not sure how, but it could be possible that they are planning to have downloadable content like songs or show clips. Maybe they are planning that and just want to protect it from other sites like this one and the army (etc) from using it without permission. Like downloading it from there and bringing it here and putting it up for download availability here as well. Their thing could be "its trademarked= not legal for anyone else to use without permission".

The Dome already has the downloadable clips, etc. It looks to be an update of the trademark to include internet resources, etc. You can look at the same website and check out their previous trademark entries for other portions of the business - strings, shirts, 'cabo wabo cantina', etc. It's pretty interesting, actually. Live and Dead for what is active and what has been cancelled. But it's a sure sign that they have no intentions of quitting any time soon. Also, previously, some of their trademarks have utilized Ed's initials as well. I'll continue to have faith !

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool stuff. As previously noted, if you do a "Van Halen" search on the trademark site you'll find all sorts of interesting stuff. the "EVH" trademark, the "Wolfgang" trademark, and the "D-Tuna" trademark. Interestingly Edward tried toget "Wolfie" trademarked but either let it drop or had it denied. A search for "Sammy Hagar" aslo yields interesting stuff including a new "Cabo Wabo Bowling" section!
"5150" searches also come up and it looks like he renewed the "5150 II" trademark in December too.

Below is a page from his patent of the device he used to play the guitar like a piano (8 pages in all I think). He also has a few other patents for thehead and tuning pegs for the Wolfgang but I was never able to find the actual patent for the D-Tuna.. Weird
