I used to not like this song very much, but it's grown on me lately and I like it a lot. Ed's solo is pretty good and Mike's background vocals stand out. Any other thoughts that don't involve the word "cheese"?

I don't really care for this song at all. It's probably one of my least favorite Sammy era songs. So many of the other Sammy ballads are better than it; Right Now, Feels So Good, Can't Stop Lovin You, Love Walks In, Not Enough. All these tunes are way better than When It's Love. Eddie plays a cool guitar solo in it however, which he usually does in the slow songs.
As opposed to those shitty solos he plays in the uptempo songs.

Sorry Dan, but I never liked it from day one. This song is an automatic skip for me still to this day. And I'm not talking about the lyrics really, mainly the whole song, music and all. But it obviously touched you in someway, so rock on man. Out.

Still consider this song to be the nadir of what was once the Mighty Van Halen. I really try to like it, but I just can't get past the thought of Van Halen taking that "Journey" into this particular territory...

Tough crowd in here, huh, Dan?
I love the video for this song. It's so simple but effective. Van Halen did have some excellent videos during Sammy's time (WIL, Feels So Good, Right Now).
I'm a sucker for the "na na na na na na" part - something about use of the backing vocals as an instrument themselves really works well in this song."Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Overall, I like the song. The solo is good and so are the background vocals. Ed's guitar playing holds everything together.
I do get tired of hearing this song in concert. They've played it on every tour since it came out. I would have liked to hear 'Feels So Good' once in awhile.Remember the Heroes - 9/11/01

Sorry, but I don't care for the song either. I probably wouldn't mind it so much except it contains the dreaded question and answer format between background singers and lead singer:
Q: How do I know when it's love?
A: I can't tell you but it lasts forever.
Q: How does it feel when it's love?
A: It's just something you feel together.
Very corny.

This is actually one of my favorites, only because it has alot of personal meaning to me behind it. The song itself is quite simple, but effective in its message. Sam sounded real good on this one.

I've always dug WIL because it helped get me through a tough time. Plus, hearing it live--MAN! Always gives me goosebumps when I hear the "na na" chorus sung by many thousands. One of my VH favorites.

I quite like that song It's the only one of the cheese ballads I can stomach - it's a good live song.

I love it except for the "na na" part at the end. Really redundant. But I can't imagine the song without it.

That's some funny shit! I gotta say I've never liked this song. Great guitar, cheesy lyrics. That being said, I must say that single came out at a very good time in my life, so it does bring back good memories.

When It's Love is my second favorite VH song after Why Can't This Be Love.
I think it has a great message to it, it also has great harmonies, and awesome synth playing as usual by Eddie. I like the live version on LRHRN the best! It rocks more live.
The When It's Love video is my all time favorite video, good call Stuff! Right Now you're reading my post!
