Winter/98 The Inside "letter from the editor"

While goin' thru the Winter 98 issue of "The Inside" magazine, I happen to come across this "Letter From The Editor". How ironic?

"Here we are in 1999, and the beginning of the new year finds us in that phase of the Van Halen cycle we all hate: the "in-between" phase. It's the purgatory between albums and tours when all we can do is wait, Sucks doesn't it?

Well, don't cry yet, because there's a silver lining in that dark cloud ahead. While the "in-between" phase has lasted for a few years between recent albums and tours, we are told that the wait will be much shorter this time out. In fact, the band should be well underway with recording the new album as you read this. If all goes as planned, they have the finished, released and maybe head back out on tour-are you ready for this? - this year."

After readin' it, I couldn't help but think that not only didn't this come to pass, but the "in between phase" this time, has been one of the most difficult in the history of the band.

it's definitely one of the most difficult times, especially since no one will admit to ANYTHING regarding the status of the band or even if everyone's healthy...
