Sammy ROCKED Las Vegas

85 degrees in an outdoor venue...tequila
"booths" all around...a cool laid-back
vibe...

The curtain rises, and there is Sammy (fuck you, he isn't fat, not even close) and his
band. They proceeded to entertain an
enthusiastic crowd for 2 1/2+ hours with great
rock and roll. The tunes ranged from current Ten-13 stuff to vintage Montrose, with many surprises, including the opening tune Space Station...

Let's look at the past 5 years... Sammy has put out three albums, toured quite a bit, kept a fairly high profile, and, in my opinion, has kept a cool attitidude and spirit.

Can any other Van Halen-connected player say the same? VHIII (the tour) had its moments, but the music failed to connect. (After repeated efforts, I fail to get it. I do vow to try again!) Dave has recently made a bit more of a splash hittin' the road with an all VH set list. (And the DLR Band CD is solid)

Sammy deserves BIG cudos for being a survivor. He is not out there just livin'
off the past. He is still vital is and passionate about what he does.

I refuse to play the Sammy vs. Dave game. Both men had their place in a legendary band.
I can only hope that one of them at some point in the future returns and helps create a little more magic.

Sammy's got a lot of heart. He's gotta be one of the most energetic guys ever to grace the music business, and he's been going at it for how long now? 28 years or so?

He must be adding some Geritol to that tequila he's drinkin'!

Here's a thought: if he isn't gonna rejoin VH, maybe he could produce them. His work ethic, which 'sucks', would certainly be a welcome addition to VH's workaholic nature. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

A friend and I were in Vegas over the weekend for a trade show and heard on a radio, late, Saturday evening (the day of the show) that Sammy was going to be in concert that evening. Although we tried, being out of towners, we could not find the venue that Sammy was to perform at, we were dissapointed. I also found it ironic that Madanna was performing the same night at MGM!

Glad to hear that the Red Rocker is still alive and kickin'. I was pretty disappointed when he had to cancel some of his early Ten13 shows. He was supposed to come to Hartford but I guess the venue was to small for the stage.

By the way, his tequila is excellent!
