Instrumentals on new album

First of all, I am against them. If there are any on the new album with DLR (At least I'm thinking positively now

), I don't think that would be a good idea.

Don't we all want to hear what Dave sounds like now? My dream would be 12 ass-kicking rockers with lyrics!!!

any instrumental by van halen is worthy, and keenly looked forward to by this fan, of been recorded and given to the masses. it has been a part of their great history and if anything, an instrumental..in my opinion..is a must for the reformed van halen. i can't wait...lets get it on!!!!!

DAN HALEN, maybe i can change your mind...let's just say it's sept 7 Mtv music awards - all the other acts just showed off with their computer drum machine and sampled shit...ED WALKS OUT ON STAGE with a candy striped CELLO, STRAPED TO RIGHT OF HIM , AND THE GUITAR STAPED TO THE LEFT...I dont know plays the intro to meansteets on both....i think someone would have to call 911 4 me....without instumentals we would not have SPANISH FLY , ERUPTION, CATHEDRAL...ETC . I have no problem with an instrumental on the new album. I would bet my nickel that there will be one on the album.

This is the thing...not evereyone loves instrumentals, however, Eddie Van Halen can almost always be counted on to make beutiful instrumentals, Spanish Fly, Eruption, Baluchiterium, Respect The Wind, 316 e.c.t

So, by having instrumentals, it allows Eddie to COMPLETELY express himself, in a way that he can`t do when lyrics are involved, because then he must worry somewhat about timing, melody e.c.t.

The second point is, is that no band, no matter how great, usually makes 12 songs that are all great, even par songs. 9-10 songs is much more realistic.

I for one, would much rather have the 10 BEST songs the boys could come up with, and 2 or 3 instrumentals that came straight from Eddie`s feelings, than 13 rock songs, 2 or 3, which are basically throwaways..

I do like instrumentals like Eruption, Spanish Fly, 316.

But I just wouldn't want one on the new album. Jesus, I say I wouldn't want one on the new album and everyone thinks I'm some kind of instrumental hater.

Hey we must have an instrumental. Chances are with DAVe being back we will here another Eruption type instrumental. You know so they could comeback with a bang!!

Some instrumentals would be awesome! Even if they were just of Edward tuning his guitar. I need Halen!

I personally would like to see at least 1 if not 2 of them. the three guys that have always been there might have something really special to give in the van halenesque vibe. a drum-bass thing might be really cool also or the man behind the guitar thing. either way i feel instrumentals are a good thing period.

All I can think of is a striped cello!!!! Last thing I really heard talk about was he was playing the cello so I have to believe that he will use this on something on the new VH album. Instrumentals are are great, they alot of times, with VH, fit right with the next tune and it is hard to imagine them not being there.

I'm with Uncle Ted! I'd love to hear a whole album of instrumentals. I hope there's a couple on the new album, especially one like Baluchitherium that's a complete tune with bass and drums. Hey, I don't care, as long as it's VAN HALEN!

Unchained Wolfie, don't forget on Diver Down there's also Little Guitars (Intro)! Plus stuff here and there that's not actually listed in the tracks like the intro to Mean Street. Geez, I love that stuff!

I always thought it would be cool if they did an album of instrumentals like Joe Satriani's stuff.
