Please Help Bring Back Van Halen

All of you at one time or another have heard the thundering sounds and musical prowess of the mighty Van Halen. From Runnin’ With the Devil to Jump, and 5150 to Without You, Eddie Van Halen, his brother Alex, bass player Michael Anthony, and lead vocalists David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, and Gary Cherone have captivated audiences all over the world.

After Cherone had departed the band in November 1999, Van Halen has been somewhat quiet as to what their future plans are. As many of you may know, Eddie was diagnosed with tongue cancer and after a relapse of the cancer, has been given a clean bill of health according to a news update from Eddie on the band’s official website at www.van-halen.com

Since then, former lead singers David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar embarked on a summer tour together to reach out and touch the fans of Van Halen with the music that has never left the rock and music industry the same.

Our attempt here is to get this letter to as many people as possible around the world and show Eddie just how much we miss both his music and him. While we realize he is battling some personal problems now and is trying to take things slow, the only thing we want to do is let him know how much we think about him and that we’re rooting for him to come back and kick our butts one more time be it with, Dave, Sam, or both of the guys.

Please forward this to everyone you know and call your local rock stations and request some Van Halen.

Not to be a downer or anything, but this is pointless. Nobody wants to get spam about a dead band from a bunch of overly optimistic fans that really should know better. Imagine getting something like this in your email about Twisted Sister.

EVH is only going to do something when EVH is ready to do something. How clear can the man make it? Van Halen is a dead band. Maybe someday they'll play some benefits or a few one-off shows, but it's over people. Love the music, love your memories, but don't expect anything from this.

The wait sucks... but heck from what I've seen round here we're a pretty fun loving bunch of knuckleheads... if not something to smoke out the band... what would you suggest? Practical jokes? Trying is great, but the effort would be better spent on something more realistic. The idea that Eddie would take notice and act because of people calling into radio stations to request songs is a little silly. If hundreds of thousands turning out to see Sam and Dave this summer didn't send a message, a minute bump in radio airplay certainly won't.

A couple of years ago a large effort was made to get a VH video played on MTV's request show. People spent hours submitting the info over and over. We didn't even come close, although a poster who worked for MTV (Georgie) said some notice was taken.

That was a directed effort with a specific and possible goal. There aren't a whole lot of us active VH fans left, and we'd have to do something that accepts that fact.

If you want to get Edward's attention I suggest you sit down and write (hand write) a letter. THousands, or hundreds of thousands of hand written letters to some legitimate address MIGHT get some sort of notice.
