I know that I will most likely get some serious shit for this from the Dave worshippers, but fuck it.
AS you all know I am a Dave fan that also loves Sammy as well and tolerated Gary.
So if Dave wants/wanted 50% from Van Halen I say nice knowing ya Dave.
Van Halen without Dave might not bring in $100 million, but it would sure bring in and alot more than the Eat Em and Smile Band would.
Van Halen would still pack arenas around then world and Dave would do o.k. in the United States but not as well globally.
If Dave wants (estimating) $50 million from VH, he would most likely top off in the 8-12 million range on his own. and that might be overexagerrated a bit.
I understand that a VH/Dave reunion would be the most lucrative in amounts of money generated, but it would most likely only be a 1 possibly 2 album partnership and then what happens to Van Halen?
If Dave doesn't come to his senses soon, its time for Eddie & co. to find someone that wants Van Halen to continue for years to come and is committed to just let Eddie write the music first and then add the lyrics later just like it was in their glory days with Dave & Sammy.
I believe that the REAL Van Halen fans will in time support this even though it might not be too popular at first.
So Dave, the ball is in your corner and if you want the bright lights, packed stadiums and arenas, and the roar of the crowd and most importantly, being with the guys that helped make you into the star you once were again and the money that goes with it all, then pick up the ball and run with your 25 million dollars, & if things work out, there just may be another 25 million for the next tour.
Now I am done ranting about this and either take it or don't let the door hit you in the ass.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

I agree that with Dave, we'll be lucky to see 2 new albums before it goes to hell. Thing is, without Dave, they're already done. After all the hub-bub about Dave, Sammy coming back would be anti-climatic at best. Gary won't be back. A fourth singer will never be accepted. Maybe the guys could put out an album without a singer but no matter how good it was few would care(other than real VH fans whatever that is). At this point, whether you love or hate Dave, he's pretty much the only option. VH must think so, apparently they've been waiting for him to contact them for awhile.
Everybody wants some...

at this point it may be getting to late, the hype has simmered down alot. they didnt strike when the iron was hot. it was hot those months after gary left and it was VERY hot in 96 when sammy left . but eddie does not make the best decisions.

It's waaaaaaaay past too late for the VH/Dave thing to happen. People have lost interest, man. Just look at vhnewsdesk.com, the updates have trickled down to nothing. I'm a total VH fan, and have been for most of my life, but they totally missed the boat on this one. God knows that I hope that I am waaaaaaaay off base with that comment. But it really looks like this thing is done for good.
You guys are right. Sammy just wouldn't fly anymore; too many bad things said between the two parties. Gary is out and nobody wants him back. A fourth singer and VH would look like total idiots. Dave was their only option, other than collecting their royalty checks on past work, and it looks like they are enjoying doing just that.Whaaaaz Up!!

If they manage to get it together, I don't think there will be much problem rebuilding the hype. A reunion won't be directed at people who read vhnd every day hoping for a positive sign.
But the original if is a big one. I find it pretty hard......actually impossible....to believe that the only thing preventing VH from saying/doing anything in 18 months is Dave's financial demands. There's got to be much more to it than that IMO......I think Eddie has lost interest in VH. It's not commercially viable to do VH his way, and he doesn't want to do it any other way.Delusions of eloquence

Sad but true, guys...I think we're finally beginning to see the light. They lost all the momentum they could have had ("strike while the iron is hot" as Rick S nailed it) and any hype that is drawn up now will in no way be as near the intensity it could have been back in 98 or even 99. Heck, I even felt the fires burning 9 months ago. Ahh well...since then, I've given birth to reality and she's not too pretty to look at.
I'd say we're not expecting VH to blow it anymore. We've done seen them come to the house, huff and puff, blow it down and move on to another forest."Once the final BAN has been completed I will ban myself." -OLO, March 21, 2002

First, let's start with baby steps. VH it seems is not even a band. We don't know what any of them are up to especially Alex. Furthermore, Mike is on hiatus and Eddie is worried more about his golf game than changing strings. They don't even have a manager. Billy Sheehan got the boot from Mr. Big so we can speculate him joining Roth, Bissonete, and Vai again. Is Sammy a possibility? Most definitely but that relationship needs some serious repair. It seems our boys are probably too stubborn to work on that one. So I guess it's retirement for our beloved boys. Thanks for the memories. Earlier this year I predicted some sort of an announcement concerning the reunion by this fall but it seems my time and everyone elses is running out. Oh well, time to move on.=VH= RIP 1978-1996!

You guys don't know what it's like to be explaining this thing to my friends since I'm 16. They laugh at VH. They're a big laughing stock now. What the hell happened to Ed's incentive to work? They seem to be pretty lazy. I'm sorry, but I also don't believe the three album's worth of material thing. That sounds pretty ridiculous. I really don't think Ed or the band even wants to work anymore. Nobody seems to care about the fans. I'm not sure if Dave does. Maybe he's broke? Uggh...Does anyone know what the hell is going on? I want answers! Damn, I've been waiting for two things for MANY YEARS. A new Jason movie and more than that, a new Van Halen album! I've never had a chance to see VH! I'm just mad now. I'm finally breaking down!

I too find it hard to believe that money is the only thing from keeping a reunion from happening. When you think about it, Dave has to know how huge this will be even if it's a one time shot. What a way to go out if in fact that was the case. No, I wonder about the health of Alex and/or Ed. What else could be keeping this thing delayed? I would think that if things had not worked out with Dave, they would have just come right out and said it. Because if they were planning on going a different route (Sammy or a fourth), they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they let this hype and speculation to go on unchecked just to go 'here's someone a bunch of you guys didn't want! Please buy our album and come see us play.' But, then again, there's not much that would surprise me at this point.
