If there was one thing that I would do to conserve resources on a major web site getting hit with a lot of traffic, it would be the elimination things that were not necessary.

An example might be the elimination of message boards prior to an announcement that would generate lots of traffic.

i agree.
running a website for a major band is hardly a large expense considering what their budget is like.
and there'd be nothing better than tons of hits on their site, especially if any news broke.

but then again, this is such a bizarre soap opera, who knows?
